Tourism Tuesdays: OktoBEARfest at the Maryland Zoo

When: Saturday, October 19th 12:00pm- 4:00pm
Interesting in partying with the bears at the Maryland Zoo? Well then OktoBEARfest may be for you! On October 19th, you can spend the day wining and dining alongside the lions, tigers and bears, oh my! Not 21+ yet? No worries, the event is open for all ages, and tickets are cheaper if you don’t plan on drinking. There will be live polka music, plenty of local food vendors and you get to spend the day wondering the zoo.
Tickets for non-drinkers start at $12 and tickets for 21+ (who plan on drinking) start at $20.

We Will Rock You! Opening Night Tickets!

We Will Rock You is coming to the US and making it’s debut in Baltimore! The ‘rock theatrical’, built around 24 of Queen’s biggest hits, will launch its national tour in Baltimore, MD, at the Hippodrome Theatre, October 15-20, 2013. This hilarious, multi-award-winning and record-breaking phenomenon is created by celebrated British comedian and writer Ben Elton (TV’s “Mr. Bean” and “The Young Ones”), and boasts a fantastic score of Queen’s biggest songs including “Another One Bites The Dust”, “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”, “We Are The Champions”, “Bohemian Rhapsody” and, of course, “We Will Rock You.”
Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor are musical supervisors to the show, taking an active role in casting the singer/actors and musicians for every production worldwide.

Sports Saturdays: Red Sox @ Orioles 9/28

Next Saturday the Orioles will host the Boston Red Sox at Orioles Park in Camden Yards. The game takes place at the tail end of Fan Appreciation Week, so fans at the game will have multiple chances to take home exciting prizes and experiences. The 2013 regular baseball season is winding down; if you haven’t gotten to an O’s game yet, here is your chance! ATTENTION! CALLING ALL RETURNING DJs! WLOY will be holding a welcome back meeting this Sunday 9/9 @ 7pm in the Avila Lounge.
To ensure the meeting progresses with ease, WLOY asks you to prepare the following upon attendance:
1) check your schedule and provide us with potential two hour time slots for your show. Please have multiple slots in mind.
2) compose a document containing your show name, a brief bio, and a sample playlist with about 10 songs.
