Tourism Tuesday: Baltimore’s Best on The Food Network

February 22nd, 2011 by WLOY Staff

Charm City flourishes all over the Food Network. In addition to the show “Ace of Cakes” there are numerous Baltimore establishments popping up all over the Food Network.

For breakfast, the network has featured Blue Moon Café, famous for exquisite and nauseatingly filling French toast. And for lunch they’ve noted Fells Point’s Brick Oven Pizza, a place where you can build your own slice or pizza, good luck choosing from over 52 toppings. And for the meat lovers out there, Chap’s Charcoal Restaurant was noted for their famous pit beef sandwich.

For dessert you can stop by Fed Hill or Canton’s Dangerously Delicious Pies. So maybe abandon Iggy’s this weekend and try some Food Network food, 15 minutes of stale fame but lasting fresh incredible food. Enjoy!!

7 Minute Sports: Ravens Haruki Nakamura

February 21st, 2011 by WLOY Staff

When you think of NFL Greatness, what team comes to mind? The Ravens seem to, every year, rise to the top of the AFC North. Along with the Steelers, both teams always find themselves fighting their way into the AFC Conference Championship or at least try to fight their way into the championship. This year, things did not go completely in the Ravens favor. They fell to the Steelers in the Divisional round after defeating the Kansas City Chiefs. However, the Ravens had a great season overall. They played extremely well and their defense was absolutely the best it had been in years. They did have problems that cost them near the end of the season that ended up costing them a chance to get to the Superbowl. However, when evaluating a team, it is good to keep notes on the positive and not just the negative. One player ended up being a surprise to many Ravens fans.

Sports Saturday: Major Indoor Soccer League

February 19th, 2011 by WLOY Staff

The 2010-2011 season for the Major Indoor Soccer League is quickly approaching its end, and with only 3 home-games left, your time to show support for the Baltimore Blast is now. The Blast have played an impressive season so far, with a record of 11-14. And don’t worry, the three loses were all incredibly close games. Let’s help the Blast end on top, and cheer them on against the Milwaukee Wave. Last time we played the Wave was on their home turf – and we won. Now let’s destroy them on our own field, Baltimore’s own 1st Mariner Arena, located in the heart of downtown. The Arena is located at 201 West Baltimore St. Baltimore, MD 21201.

Tickets vary in price, and are required for anyone over the age of 2. You can call and order tickets at 410-73-BLAST, or purchase them online at their website.

February 18th, 2011 by WLOY Staff

For the fourth week this season, Justin Drummond, Freshman Guard, has been honored as being named MAAC Player of the Week. The call was announced earlier this week from the conference. But why has this happened? Clearly, Drummond is doing something spectacular that the entire league is willingly to give him recognition but what is it?

It’s really simple if you have been following the Greyhounds all season. This Kid can play. Drummond has been on top of his game both offensively and defensively. He is averaging 9.8 points per game play about 16 minutes a game. He scored a season high against #15 Georgetown by putting up 21 points. In the past three weeks, Drummond has been producing 14.7 points per gameHe rebounds about 2.8 per game. He has been shooting 56.7% from the field and 60% from behind the three point arc. He has been utilized well by Patsos. Read the rest of this entry »
