Theater Thursday: Spotlighters Theatre

November 25th, 2010 by WLOY Staff

Have you been doing too much reading? Have you been cooped up inside for too long? Lucky for you, the Spotlighters Theatre has the perfect remedy for both! From November 26th through December 19th, the theater will be performing “Stage Blood,” a play within a play (within a play).

In the play, an acting troop perform Hamlet as things backstage begin to mirror the actions of the play. If you aren’t up for the real version of Hamlet, or just want a short but hilarious version of the original, this mix of murder, infidelity, and betrayal is sure to be a great fix.

As their website touts, Baltimore is home to Bingo World, the biggest bingo jackpots of the Mid-Atlantic. Every night, $20,000 is given out amongst the winners. Now, that’s a pretty good game of Bingo.

So, why not take a break from all the stress and go play a friendly game of Bingo? That’s not even mentioning the 15-minute intermission filled with a medley of other chances to win.

November 22nd, 2010 by WLOY Staff

On Sunday afternoons, most students are taking the opportunity to catch up on sleep lost from the week. However, the Loyola Men’s Basketball team had something else to do on this particular Sunday. In Reitz Arena, the Greyhounds decided on this sluggish afternoon to take on the Dartmouth Big Greens and beat them 73-59 improving to 2-1. The Hounds are now on a two game winning streak taking two of the three games from the opening home stand.

Jamal Barney, who put up 18 points and 3 rebounds, helped lead the Greyhounds to a victory. As well, Anthony Winbush and Robert Olson both snagged 11 points against the Big Green Defense. Dylon Cormier, Freshman Guard, led the team with 8 rebounds and added 9 points with an assist.

Museum Monday: Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum

November 22nd, 2010 by WLOY Staff

Looking to learn more about Baltimore’s unique history and fame? What better place than the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum. After all, it’s on the museum’s 40 acres that the first commercial long-distance track was born, giving us the nation’s truly unique railroad system.

From taking (holiday) train rides, climbing into a steam locomotive, watching toy trains pass through the garden, and viewing railroad movies in theater cars, there’s plenty to keep you busy at the museum. You’ll be amidst history as you look through nearly 200 pieces of rolling stock and locomotives and thousands of small artifacts like pocket watches, communication devices, lanterns, and dining car china that cover the start of American railroading in 1830 through present day.
