Youth (up to age 21) in Baltimore City and County who want to put their community building ideas into action are invited to apply for funding. Grants range from $500 to $3,500 and are available for community organizing programs that are created and carried out by young people. Applicants are required to attend one of the two workshops and must be represented by one or two youth and no more than one optional adult. The application deadline is on Friday, November 16 at 5:00 p.m.

Explore Baltimore: Rosemont PhotoVoice

Tourism Tuesday: “The House I Live In” Film Screening and Discussion

Filmed in more than twenty states, “The House I Live In” tells the stories of individuals at all levels of America’s War on Drugs. From the dealer to the narcotics officer, the inmate to the federal judge, the film offers a penetrating look inside America’s criminal justice system, revealing the profound human rights implications of U.S. drug policy. David Simon, creator of The Wire, will introduce “The House I Live In.” The film will be followed by a conversation with the director, writer and producer of “The House I Live In,” Eugene Jarecki, and Judge Andre Davis, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. The House I Live In is the winner of the 2012 Sundance Festival Grand Jury Prize for Documentary. This event is co-sponsored by the Maryland Film Festival and is part of OSI-Baltimore’s Talking About Race Series which continues to explore the many different facets of this complex subject. This event is free and open to the public.
