Theatre Thursdays: “Gone Girl” at Senator Theatre

Thursday, November 13th, 2014 by WLOY Staff

Gone-Girl-poster-3-300x449 What: Gone Girl at Senator Theatre

Where: Senator Theatre

When: Various Show times

Unless you’re one of those people who refuses to watch a film after you’ve already read it in book form, Gone Girl is  a must-see, and it’s right here in Baltimore! Based on Gillian Flynnunearths best seller, Gone Girl tells the story of Nick Dunne, whose wife, Amy, has gone missing. When Dunne, played by Ben Affleck, reports his wife’s disappearance, investigations turn what once seemed to be the ideal marriage into a crumbling union of man and wife. Under police and media pressure, Dunne’s lies and odd behavior make him a suspect of the disappearance (murder?) of Amy Dunne. I don’t want to spoil the twisted thriller, so I will say no more. Just head down to Senator Theatre, grab your large popcorn (extra butter!), and your box of “Buncha Crunch”, and enjoy unraveling the mystery! See show times here!

Rams Change Mind About Davis; Start Hill

Wednesday, November 12th, 2014 by WLOY Staff

mag_NFLpreview065_USAtoday_300x200Jeff Fisher is a very good coach, but he just made a very stupid, shallow move.

Just two days after making the announcement that Austin Davis, the 2nd-year gunslinger from the University of Southern Mississippi, would continue to be the starter for the St. Louis Rams, Fisher changed his mind and made the decision to start veteran quarterback Shaun Hill instead.

Davis has been the starter for 8 of the 9 games for the Rams this season after Hill went down in the season opener. In those 8 starts, Davis has gone 3-5, throwing for 2,001 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions. Davis currently has a season passer rating of 85.1 and a QBR of 37.6.

The glaring issue for Davis is the fact that he has had many costly turnovers in his last couple of games. This past week against the division opponent Cardinals, Davis threw 2 interceptions and lost a fumble in the 4th quarter. But what 1st-year starter isn’t going to struggle against the Cardinals defense?

Men’s Soccer Season Ends In Double OT

Monday, November 10th, 2014 by WLOY Staff

loyola soccer Loyola’s 2014 men’s soccer season ended with a heartbreaker. The Hounds lost 1-0 to Patriot League opponent Lafayette on a penalty kick in the 102nd minute.

The team finishes their 2014 campaign with an overall record of 5-8-4, and a conference record of 2-5-2.

The senior class for the Hounds fittingly finished by leaving it all out on the field. Joseph Cahalan almost put the Hounds up in regulation time, but his shot went off the crossbar, and Connor Thompson almost won it for the Hounds in the first OT period, rifling a shot towards the right side of the net, only to be barely denied by Lafayette goalkeeper Alexander Leavy.

The men’s basketball team kicked off the season with an exhibition game at home against Bridgewater College.

The team looked strong as the Hounds won 71-49, and did a good job of spreading around the scoring as four players found themselves in double-digits in the scoring column.

The real work starts next week as the Hounds kick off the regular season with a game on the road against Texas Tech.
