Nalani & Sarina Interview
Thursday, April 24th, 2014 by WLOY Staff
Following their performance at our WLOY Coffeehouse, I had the chance to sit down with Nalani & Sarina, the dynamic, twinning duo who can hold their own in the music game. The extremely talented pair graced our ears with their singing abilities, along with each playing the guitar, piano and ukelele. They are a fun crowd to hang around and they certainly give a good interview. Be sure to listen to the whole interview below and check out their music!

Rachel Stoczko – Hozier – From Eden EP – [itunes link=”https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/arsonists-lullabye/id855326898?uo=4″ title=”Itunes”]
This newly released EP from Irish artist, Hozier, has been on repeat since I discovered it last week. I first heard Hozier on Teen Wolf, judge me, with his work from his first EP, and his second certainly does not disappoint. I cannot stop listening to the hauntingly beautiful tones and intricate lyrics of all four songs off the new EP. Give it a listen and melo out.

Top 20 Tracks 4.20.14
Thursday, April 24th, 2014 by WLOY Staff
This week we have the highly anticipated “Girl” topping our chart. The xx producer/percussionist released his fourth solo single earlier this week, and it’s thumping bass and reverb vocal makes dancing to this track almost irresistible. Also on our chart is another cut off of Mac DeMarco’s Salad Days, as well as tUnE-yArDs’ “Water Fountain” which received an extremely psychedelic music video this week (check it out here). And more important than all of that, check back every week for our updated Top 20!

Deleted Scenes
Lithium Burn
[itunes link=”https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/stutter/id849290293?uo=4″ title=”Lithium Burn”]
Grade: A
Deleted Scene’s new album, set to release April 15 definitely captures the essence of their music-art rock. Melodic rhythms, infused with some math rock, helps set this band apart from others. This album definitely demonstrates are much this band has grown, how mature they are and how knowledge/talented they are on their instruments. Lithium Burn also gives you a very pop sound, heard on the title track ” Haircuts/Uniforms.” (more…)

Night Riots
Young Lore
[itunes link=”https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/young-lore/id683489785?uo=4″ title=”Young Lore EP “]
Grade: A
California rocker, Night Riots self-funded this amazing EP. Young Lore is just 6 songs of absolute fun-it combines, harmonic vocals, solid drumming and simple yet amazing guitar riffs. The saying, “simple is better” really defines these indie rocker, though each song is clearly thought out, none of the songs are over produced instrumental wise. (more…)

Jordan Hernandez – Miri Ben-Ari – Hip Hop Medley
This past weekend I had the chance to see the legendary hip hop violinist Miri Ben-Ari. Words cannot describe the talent this girl has and how she has changed the face of music. You’ve probably heard her in the background of your favorite hip hop beats and don’t even know it. Check her out and prepare for your mind to be blown!
