Friday, March 17th, 2017 by WLOY Staff

What: R. House

Where:  301 W 29th St. Baltimore, MD 21211

When: Monday- Sunday (See hours on website.)

Upon hearing the name, you may hear the catchy jingle, “Our house, in the middle of the street,” playing over and over in your head. Or maybe I’ve just seen Maxwell House coffee commercials too many times. Anyway, the house we’re talking about R. House! Located in Remington, R. House is an innovative and community-focused restaurant established by 10 chefs looking to open restaurants. With 10 different restaurants inside, you can get a food market feel, while sitting inside of a transformed and stylish old body shop. Whether you’re in the mood for Mexican food (We suggest the Chorizo,) or you want to fancy your palette with some Korean BBQ, you won’t have a hard time finding something to satisfy your cravings at R. House. A Cool, industrial-yet-homey atmosphere and a variety of food you can’t go wrong with, but what may be the most impressive part of R. House is its community-focused mission to “revive neighborhoods and inspire great ideas.” After a delicious bite at R. House, you’ll be singing to coffee commercial theme songs, but at least you’ll be doing it on a full stomach! Learn more about R. House’s awesome chefs and their inspiration here!

Explore Baltimore: Five and Dime Ale House

Tuesday, February 21st, 2017 by WLOY Staff

What: Five and Dime Ale House

Where: 901 W 36th St

When: Mon.-Thurs. 11am-12am, Friday-Sunday 11am-2am

With modern twist to the old diner and tavern lifestyle, Five and Dime Ale House is a great place to grab an amazing dinner with friends. Their menu features a little bit of everything, including tacos, fish and chips, mussels, or burgers so everyone will be able to get what they’re in the mood for. My personal favorite is the fig and prosciutto sandwich which has the tastiest balsamic vinegar I have ever had and is loaded with tons of prosciutto. But even if you don’t try this favorite, one of their many other delicious dishes is guaranteed to exceed your expectation. The great food isn’t the only draw to this restaurant though. Five and Dime also has a nice atmosphere for catching a game and a meal after work. With it’s warm lighting and rustic-chic styling, you will be instantly relaxed when you walk into Five and Dime, and that relaxation will only continue as you enjoy your food and watch a sport of choice on one of their TVs. So, whether you go for the tastes, the variety, the atmosphere, or just because I said to, Five and Dime will make every penny worth it.
