Friday, March 28th, 2014 by WLOY Staff
No earthly or supernatural force will keep us away from Maria Dontas–not an earthquake, not a martian invasion, and definitely not a Valentines Day snowmageddon. Although the mischievous ice gave a valiant attempt, it merely postponed this angel’s visitation. This Thursday, April 3rd singer-songwriter Maria Dontas will be assisting our transition into the soothing sounds of springtime. Never heard her? Follow this link to feast your ears. Until then, mark it on your calendar, April 3rd in the 3rd floor reading room, 9PM.

WLOY Coffee House Presents: Nalani & Sarina
Tuesday, March 25th, 2014 by WLOY Staff
This week at WLOY we’re bringing you a fresh new artist to feed your eye and ear holes. Or rather, I should say “artists” to more appropriately describe sister duo Nalani & Sarina. Heading straight down the Garden State Turnpike, Nalani & Sarina will be traveling here to our humble stage to grace us with some of their melodic creations. This past January Nalani & Sarina released their first full-length album “Lessons Learned,” which features fourteen original songs written and performed by these multi-intramentalist talents. Also, the group has quite the experience performing at a wide array of college campuses as well as notable music festivals around the northeast. Nalani & Sarina will be whipin’ out their sound cannons starting 9pm sharp, in the 3rd floor reading room! Meet them first on their Youtube page or website.

WLOY Coffee House Presents: Blind Man Leading
Monday, February 24th, 2014 by WLOY Staff
Who’s that guy at the WLOY open mic nights? You know, the dude who always comes singin’ songs about Greek mythology and absolutely kills it. Well, that’s our friend Dave, and this Thursday at WLOY’s Coffee House he will be accompanied by his posse of sound sculptors. Indigenous to our very own Baltimore, Blind Man Leading brings you a bodacious blend of rock-pop placed within the subtleties of jazz rhythm. If you’ve never heard of Blind Man Leading, relinquish your deafness and check out their newly released EP “SWORDS” or a some of their live performances. After you’re awed (which you most definitely will be) come by the 3rd Floor Reading Room, this Thursday night, 9pm.

Yeezus in the Charm City
Friday, February 21st, 2014 by WLOY Staff
Written by: Jeremy Stephenson
With his first solo tour in five years, you know Mr. West rolled his sleeves up to make his Baltimore fans remember why he is the icon he is today. First of all, this concert and tour is nothing like any other rap tour or any tour for that matter to date. The show kicked off with the unveiling of a massive mountain in the back of the stage, which followed with Kanye’s twelve dancers who were dressed in fully nude pantyhose, and were incorporated throughout the show’s entirety. Kanye then dramatically weaved his way through his girls and started with the first song off his Yeezus album, “On Sight.” (more…)
