Walter Parks, solo artist, guitarist for the now-late Richie Havens, leader of Swamp Cabbage, and all around nice guy stopped by the station finally. We’ve only been trying to make that happen for 4 years… It seemed that something always came up when we tried to make it work so when we finally got the stars to align, I wasn’t going to let him leave after a few questions. Fortunately Walter (and his lovely wife Margo) stuck around for over an hour playing and talking.

Woody Lissauer In Studio Performance

Woody Lissauer stopped by to chat and play some of his songs with DJ Chris Sweeney. Just ignore the bonus echo effect on the discussion… Woody routed everything through his pedal systems and it created an interesting effect on their chat. On the plus side the music sounds great!

Wine Tasting & Ukulele Night Featuring Don Kim & Zia Hassan 4/4/13

Thanks to the Maryland Wineries Association, Whole Foods, Student Activities, the Senior Class and us, we had a great time Thursday night. Sampling a variety of Maryland wines in a tasting guided by Maryland Wineries Association Executive Director Kevin Atticks, our group of senior class members got an education on tasting, evaluating and selecting wines. We also had a large selection of cheeses donated by Whole Foods in Mt. Washington (and more bought by WLOY) so people could match flavors between wine, cheese, crackers, spreads, nuts, and more. Great local musicians Don Kim and Zia Hassan treated us to some fantastic music as they moved from the stage to rambling minstrels, serenading tables throughout the room. Alumni Happy Hour Today 5-7pm

Caleb Stine Coffeehouse Show: 4/11/13

Be sure to swing by the Reading Room this upcoming Thursday, April 11th to catch Caleb Stine. Caleb is a local artist hailing from Baltimore who’s folk/country musical style is reminiscent of an early Neil Young.

The event will be taking place between 9pm-11pm and we will be offering FREE cupcakes. In addition, we will be hosting a free raffle where you will have the chance to win FREE tickets to see Crystal Castles perform at Rams Head Live.
