DJ Mike the Psych, now green-thumbed alumna Mike Vuoto, has a (possibly unhealthy) thing for Peter Frampton’s album Frampton Comes Alive, and it’s led him to some cool stuff. Among the things it has led to are some great seats at shows and several great chats with Frampton’s longtime manager Donnie Lewis. Here is the one when they finally did it as an official interview!

Staycation Compilation Interview

On February 5th, I had the opportunity to interview James Richard Lane, creator of the Staycation Compilation. The Staycation Compilation is a music series that showcases a variety in sound while giving back to a greater cause, with the proceeds benefiting the Baltimore International Academy. The collection includes some great local artists who have also played live shows for WLOY (PLRLS, F City, Little Lungs…) and some newcomers bound for great things. It was a fantastic experience getting to hear James’ story working with musicians in the Baltimore area and beyond. (more…)

Jonas Carping Interview

I had the pleasure of interviewing Jonas Carping, a folk (or Americana or ?) artist from Sweden about his new album “Strangers.” In the interview we really went in depth on inspiration and the process of making music. Jonas gave great insight on the importance of being true to the music and having everything be as real and raw as possible. We also discussed the importance of family and friends and the way they have shaped his career and music. We also talked about how he has been doing with the pandemic and how that has affected his life and career. Overall we had a very interesting conversation about music and the inspiration behind his work.

Bootleggers and Baptists WLOY Interview 480p. The Professor grabbed a couple of the guys from Bootleggers and Baptists for a Zoom chat about the 2020Charm City Sampler releases by Tony Corelli of Deep End Studio and how they ended up a part of the madness. Kyle and Terry sat down on the orange couch and explained the origin of the name, their great rock sound, dealing with the pandemic and their upcoming live show as part of the Sampler release concert on September 26th. You might recognize Terry from his other interview as part of Old Eastern. Yet another example of how Baltimore bands are all one crazy family.
