Well depending on where you stand on the relationship spectrum this Thursday could mark either your favorite, or most dreaded day of the year. That’s right, I’m talking about Valentines Day. Thankfully, no matter how existent/non-existent your love life is, WLOY is here to offer a grand experience for all. This Thursday, February 14th WLOY will be hosting a Valentines Day event in the Reading Room between 9pm and 11pm.

Pantha Du Prince and The Bell Laboratory – Elements of Light

The release is a collaboration between producer Hendrik Weber (a.k.a. Pantha Du Prince) and various percussionists, including a member of Jaga Jazzist, based out of Oslo, but its cohesive nature leads me to imagine while listening that it’s a product of a single band that’s known each other for decades. New R&B/ Hip-Hop artist Chanel Nicole is calling in to WLOY for an interview! Chanel Nicole is a singer, songwriter and performer from Brooklyn, NY and has already taken the music industry by storm. Her single “Good Lovin” is reminiscent of Mya, Ciara and Ashanti mixed together into one song that is sure to be heard on radio stations across the country very soon! She has even been featured on hip-hop legend Busta Rhymes’ single “Do It Again.” WLOY is so excited to welcome Chanel Nicole to Baltimore! Soulful, inspiring, talented, relatable, and smooth are all words that may come to one’s mind when listening to Baltimore native hip hop/ R&B artist Von Tae’s album Broken Boundaries of Existence. At just 20 years old, his lyrics can relate to those of all ages who have been in love, through a tough break-up, or just looking to have a good time. Von Tae provides his listeners with a variety of melodies, beats, and sounds that are coupled with a wide range of very relatable lyrics. Each track offers a different sound but all provide an enjoyable experience. This upcoming artist delivers a great mix of rap and vocals that are sure to please anyone looking to hear good music.

Late Night 2/14 – Be WLOY’s Valentine!

WLOY always treats its Valentines right, and how perfect is it that this year’s 14th falls on a Thursday? Get ready for a WLOY Valentine’s Day Extravaganza! From 9-11PM in the Reading Room, we’ll be providing a whole host of FREE goodies to show our love for our wonderful listeners, starting with free pizza courtesy of Loyola’s favorite Toss Pizzeria and ending with a gourmet sundae bar! Free food not enough? Entertainment will follow in the form of Loyola Musician and Heartthrob Peter Whitaker as well as a poetry reading from the Greyhound Poetry Collective. In true Late Night fashion, a raffle will also take place for both concert tickets and a special date — you must be present to win, and all proceeds will go to Relay for Life! Join us Thursday, February 14th — you don’t want to miss it!
