Sports Saturdays: Men’s Basketball Ready To Start Season

10507050Basketball is back here at Loyola, and what a way to start.

The men’s basketball team kicked off the season with an exhibition game at home against Bridgewater College.

The team looked strong as the Hounds won 71-49, and did a good job of spreading around the scoring as four players found themselves in double-digits in the scoring column.

The real work starts next week as the Hounds kick off the regular season with a game on the road against Texas Tech.

A-Rod Admits To PED Use

Alex Rodriguez New York Yankees controversial third baseman officially admitted to the DEA during a meeting in January that he did use PED’s…as if we’re surprised by this.

According to a report from the Miami Herald, Rodriguez confessed to paying Biogenesis founder Anthony Bosch for providing him with testosterone cream, testosterone gummies, HGH injections. The released report from the DEA stated, “Rodriguez injected the HGH into his stomach. Rodriguez said Bosch told him the HGH would help with sleep, weight, hair growth, eyesight and muscle recovery.” Read the rest of this entry »

Teddy and Brandon are always quick to respond to emails and volunteer for events. These kids are down right awesome. WLOY Coffeehouse: Matt Hutchison 11/6

As a child, Matt Hutchison fell in love with The Beatles. He even spent a few years in England when he was younger. Matt’s love went as far as thinking he was Paul McCartney! (He used to sign his school papers as Paul McCartney.) Now, he’s bloomed into a wonderful artist that will be at the WLOY Coffeehouse THIS THURSDAY! If you want a little taste of what his music is like, Matt just released four free streaming tracks from his upcoming album, “Three Minute Man”, that will be released November 30.

Lauren Hill Lives Out Basketball Dreams Despite Terminal Cancer

Lauren Hill Every so often we witness a story that gives us a reason to believe and a reason to stand up for our fellow humans, and can remind us why we love sports the way we do.

This story lives through 18-year-old Mount St. Joseph’s student, Lauren Hill. Lauren has a special dream, a dream to play college basketball. As she puts it, “I’ve just always wanted to step out onto a college court, looking down at my shoes stepping out on that wooden floor, and feeling the vibration of the crowd. It’s just what I’ve dreamed.”

That dream became impossibly difficult after Lauren was diagnosed with brain cancer. Her tumor is inoperable.
