World Series Going To Game 7
Wednesday, October 29th, 2014 by WLOY Staff
The Royals defended their home turf in game 6 to force a game 7 in the World Series, thanks to a 10-0 rout of the Giants.
Kansas City never game San Francisco a chance in game 6, as they put 7 runs on the board in the bottom of the 2nd inning, batting through the entire lineup.
Big World Series blowout wins aren’t new to the Royals. They won their only franchise championship in 1985 with an 11-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.

Loyola Soccer Holds Strong This Weekend
Monday, October 27th, 2014 by WLOY Staff
This past weekend, Loyola soccer faced two tough tests, with the men playing against the number 20 team in the nation, Boston University, and the women playing their last home game of the season against Navy.
Both teams held strong, earning hard-fought ties, the men’s game ending 1-1, and the women’s game ending in a 0-0 shutout.
The ties are incredibly important for both teams, as it keeps a 4-game shutout streak alive for the women, and makes the men the first team to steal a point from Boston University in the Patriot League this season.

Manning Makes History; Breaks TD Record
Monday, October 20th, 2014 by WLOY Staff
This weekend in Denver, Peyton Manning made history by breaking Brett Favre’s all-time NFL career touchdown pass record of 508.
It seems an eternity since Manning threw his first career TD pass to Marvin Harrison back in 1998, but now in 2014 and in the heart of his 17th NFL season, Manning sits at a record 510 career TD passes, a record he will continue to add on to for as long as he plays.
The record-breaking 509th TD pass came with 3:09 remaining in the first half on an 8-yard pass to wide receiver Demaryius Thomas.
When asked about the historical catch, Thomas said, “I thought before the play I might have a chance…I just wanted to make sure I got my feet down. I’m grateful for the chance.”
Manning, a player known for keeping his calm demeanor and his emotions in check, couldn’t help but give a big smile as he saw the official signal for touchdown pass number 509.

How Bout Them Cowboys!
Monday, October 13th, 2014 by WLOY Staff
This weekend, the Dallas Cowboys pulled off the seemingly impossible task of going into Seattle and beating the Seahawks at CenturyLink Field.
What may be even more impressive is that way that they beat Seattle. The Cowboys won using a gameplan that hasn’t appeared in Dallas since they last won a Super Bowl, a gameplan that revolves around balance and physicality.
Dallas’ offensive line is proving that they are one of the best in the league, their defense is being physical at the point of attack and forcing turnovers, running back Demarco Murray is playing like an MVP back, starting with 6-straight 100-plus yard games on the ground, and quarterback Tony Romo is looking sharp and not turning the ball over.

O’s and Royals Sweep to Meet in ALCS
Monday, October 6th, 2014 by WLOY Staff
The two ALDS series were decided in clean sweeps, with the Baltimore Orioles topping the Detroit Tigers, and the Kansas City Royals shocking the Los Angeles Angels.
The sweeps were incredibly impressive on both sides, considering that the O’s beat the last 3 AL Cy Young winners in their 3 games, and the Royals were able to hold off the best offensive team in all of baseball.
Baltimore advances with home-field advantage for the ALCS as the AL East Champions, and Kansas City fights their way through Oakland and Los Angeles to advance as the AL Wild Card team.
Even though the O’s were the higher seed in their series, both the O’s and the Royals were the underdogs in their respective ALDS matchup.
Looking ahead to the ALCS between Baltimore and Kansas City, a couple of things stand out: (more…)
