Sports Saturdays: Farewell Captain
Saturday, September 27th, 2014 by WLOY Staff
Once in a generation, a player comes along and defines a great player and great leader for his or her sport, a player whom fans will remember and respect for years to come. For this generation, that player is Derek Jeter.
After 20 incredible seasons in pinstripes for the Yankees, the time has come for Jeter to bid a fond farewell to the fans of New York and the fans of baseball around the world, and boy did he do it in style!
In front of a sold-out crowd at Yankee Stadium, Jeter stepped up to the plate in a tie ball game in the bottom of the 9th with a runner on second and a chance to win the game for the Yanks.

Super Bowl Rematch
Monday, September 22nd, 2014 by WLOY Staff
On Sunday at CenturyLink Field in Seattle, the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks met up for a regular season rematch of Super Bowl XLVIII, and they did not disappoint.
It was a heavily defensive battle late into the 4th quarter, when the Seahawks took a 20-12 lead with just under 1:00 left to play. In steps Peyton Manning to be…well, Peyton Manning.
Manning led an impressive drive down the field that capped off with a 26-yard touchdown pass to Tight End Jacob Tamme to bring the Broncos within 2 points of the Seahawks in hostile territory. Manning then showed the true ice in his veins, completing a pass to Demaryius Thomas for a 2-point conversion to tie the game at 20 with 18 seconds left to play.
