Happy Hour is 3:30pm to 5:30 pm. Their menu offers dozens of authentic Indian/Nepali dishes, and there is something for everyone (even many vegetarian options like lentils and paneer!) Appetizers include soups, salads, and an assortment of veggies, and the main courses are centered around lamb, chicken, and seafood. All the dishes are grilled in their traditional Indian clay “tandoor” oven and then doused in flavorful curries prepared with only the freshest ingredients and traditional Indian herbs and spices.

Explore Baltimore! El Suprimo Records

What: Record Shop
Where: 1709 Aliceanna St, Baltimore, MD 21231
When: Monday-Friday, 1pm-7pm

Come visit El Suprimo Records today! Although on the smaller side, this old school style record shop is crammed with used records among other things: LP’s, 45’s & 78’s, cassettes, 8-tracks, DVD, VHS, CD’s, books, vintage stereo equipment, all kinds of turntables, instruments, memorabilia, and pop-culture Kitsch. I noticed there was a lot of jazz, funk, soul, and 60s/70s rock compared to other genres. However, whatever you’re looking for you will probably find. Most of the records are used but they’re still in good condition and I have even found original pressings here. In addition, the prices of the records are generously marked down if they have any imperfections, so you are getting your money’s worth. Read the rest of this entry »

Staycation Compilation Interview

(By Ben Ostrowski ’24)
On February 5th, I had the opportunity to interview James Richard Lane, creator of the Staycation Compilation. The Staycation Compilation is a music series that showcases a variety in sound while giving back to a greater cause, with the proceeds benefiting the Baltimore International Academy. The collection includes some great local artists who have also played live shows for WLOY (PLRLS, F City, Little Lungs…) and some newcomers bound for great things. It was a fantastic experience getting to hear James’ story working with musicians in the Baltimore area and beyond. Read the rest of this entry »

Neo Jessica Joshua, also known as Nao, is an English singer-songwriter and producer from East London. For All We Know is her debut album, released in 2016. Nao demonstrates how amazing genre-blending is by having a perfect balance of soul, funk, R&B, and electronic music and making it all work seamlessly. Not only is this album produced extremely well, but Nao’s vocals enchant you. Her voice is light, rich, mesmerizing, and sweet at the same time. Through this album, we accompany her as she examines some of her past relationships, friendships, and her relationship with herself as she notices changes within. Nao’s vocals weave themselves into a perfect ratio of harmony and lead. Since releasing this album she has worked with artists such as Disclosure and Abhi Dijon. Along with collaborative work, she has released two other albums that have had great success. I cannot wait to hear more from Nao! Make sure to check her out on all streaming platforms.
My recommendations from this album are “Bad Blood”, “Fool to Love”, and “Girlfriend”.

Album of the Week: Blossom by Kito

Are you planning a chill get-together in your apartment? Do you like upbeat, head-bobbing music? This is the album for you! Released on November 5, 2021, this album is the perfect album for party vibes. The pop artist music is played in clubs from Shanghai to Los Angeles. The artist’s electronic sound makes it impossible for you not to groove to this album.
My personal favorite song from this album is “Skin & Bones”. This song has a fun chorus that just makes you want to get up and dance! In this album, she collaborates with Broods, Trinidad James, and more. Kito makes her songs with simple music tracks but incorporates complex emotions allowing for you to be, quite literally, crying in the club.
