Food Friday: Sofi’s Crepes

October 29th, 2010 by WLOY Staff

What’s delicious, nutritious, and easy to eat on the go? Crêpes! And at Sofi’s Crepes, you’ll find some of the most finely-mastered ones this side of the Atlantic Ocean.

With the choice of savory or sweet, there’s something for everyone. That’s not to say the choice will be easy: The Godfather or the Nutty Banana? The Kevin Bacon or the Crêpe Suzette? But any decision will be a good one and the entire experience, if you couldn’t tell already, will be filled with a playfulness that will keep you coming back for more (and more, and more). image

And we are off! Some of the WLOY crew is heading to Louisville, KY for the weekend for the National College Media Convention. I’m going to try and sporadically send updates about what we are up to and what sort of ridiculous stuff happens.

To start, I just want to put a disclaimer out there That’s I’m typing this on my phone so please excuse my misspellings and poor grammar. I know this will get on the Web Mistress’ (Amanda Nolan) nerves.

We are bringing quite a crowd to the convention. I’m joined by The Professor, Billy, Christa, Amanda, and Anthony. We almost left Anthony this morning because he got caught up playing his PlayStation in his room and almost forgot about us. Anthony also made the mistake of bringing a HUGE suitcase that had to be checked… How much clothing is he planning on wearing over the course of four days? Read the rest of this entry »

Coffeehouse 10/28 Co-Sponsored with ALAS

October 27th, 2010 by WLOY Staff

Thursday 10/28 WLOY presents another Coffeehouse, though, this time, we’re changing things up. WLOY is co-sponsoring this event with ALAS, the Association of Latin American Students, as part of Latin Week. The emphasis this week is on the coffee – we’ll be getting coffee from Zeke’s with flavors from all different Latin American countries in order to have a coffee tasting. Once the caffeine settles into our bloodstream, we’ll be hearing from Gerson Martinez of SpokenWord. Also, open mic is encouraged from those talented people in the audience.

This event is shaping up to be an energetic one, so make sure to stop by the Reading Room 9 -11 on Thursday!
