For $10 you get a round trip shuttle ride from behind Boulder Gardens to Stoneleigh Lanes, unlimited bowling, shoes AND an entry into the raffle for tickets to see Wiz Khalifa or TV on the Radio or Stone Temple Pilots for FREE 🙂 If you miss the signups in Student Activities, you can still go! Duckpin Bowling for Relay for Life
March 22nd, 2011 by WLOY Staff
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BALTIMORE, MD (March 16, 2011)-
WLOY, the non-profit, student-run radio station at Loyola University Maryland will be hosting and participating in bowling at Stoneleigh Lanes for duckpin bowling. WLOY invites any and all students to join us on Tuesday March 22, 2010 to experience a different kind of bowling many have probably never played before. WLOY works to provide quality music 24/7, to showcase unique student and faculty-hosted shows, and to provide music for on-campus events.
Duckpin bowling is a variance of the regular bowling. The bowling balls used in duckpin weigh anywhere from two to four pounds and are a maximum of five inches in diameter. Unlike regular bowling balls, these duckpin balls have no finger holes and are held with an open hand. The pins used are also much different then regular pins, they are shorter and lighter making strikes more difficult to achieve. This challenging game is said to have possibly originated in Baltimore as early at 1900. If you would like to test your bowling skills in duckpin or just have a good time with friends join WLOY for a cost of only ten dollars, including all you can bowl, shoe rental, as well as transportation. A Shuttle will leave from Behind Boulder Garden Café at 9:00 p.m.
WLOY is Loyola University Maryland’s campus radio station. The student-run radio station has been operating year-round since March 2003. The station can be heard on 1620AM, and via the internet. WLOY offers a variety of live shows of different genres. Shows are hosted by students and community members, and include weekend programs such as What Happens Next? designed for Baltimore City school children. WLOY has received local and national awards for its programming and community outreach, including selection to the 2011 Top 25 College Radio Stations in the mtvU Woodie Awards. For more information regarding WLOY’s shows or fundraising efforts, please email wloy@loyola.edu or call 410-617-5349.
