Sons of Cream Interview
April 22nd, 2013 by The Professor
Take some famous parents and mix in a life of rock and roll and you might get a strange brew. Our own Tim Tilghman of Radio RockonTour caught up with the lads while they were in Annapolis for a show on March 20, 2013. Kofi (son of Ginger) Baker, Malcom (son of Jack) Bruce, Godfrey (no relation to Pete) Townsend all sat down to give Tim a bit of good-natured grief and talk about their careers and vaguely familiar parents.

Nathan tells his story. Nathan is the unofficial “Mayor” of Camp83, the controversial but long standing homeless encampment located under Route 83. The camp is under pressure from the City of Baltimore to move, or be forced to move immediately. After 10+ years in the same location, the sudden pressure to move has rallied an urgent effort in the homeless community to support the camp residents.

Wine Tasting & Ukulele Night Featuring Don Kim & Zia Hassan 4/4/13
April 5th, 2013 by WLOY Staff
Thanks to the Maryland Wineries Association, Whole Foods, Student Activities, the Senior Class and us, we had a great time Thursday night. Sampling a variety of Maryland wines in a tasting guided by Maryland Wineries Association Executive Director Kevin Atticks, our group of senior class members got an education on tasting, evaluating and selecting wines. We also had a large selection of cheeses donated by Whole Foods in Mt. Washington (and more bought by WLOY) so people could match flavors between wine, cheese, crackers, spreads, nuts, and more. Great local musicians Don Kim and Zia Hassan treated us to some fantastic music as they moved from the stage to rambling minstrels, serenading tables throughout the room. It was such a great night we were instructed to do it again as soon as possible! Click to see the photo gallery Read the rest of this entry »
