The interview was extra special because it was on my birthday! Caleb graced us with his presence, his musical talents, a bag of Columbian coffee and our very own Morning Show jingle! Attending a Great American Cookout event will get you the know-how, but you’re going to need top of the line grill gear to accompany your skills. This year, the Great American Cookout will be hosting the BBQ Getaway Giveaway sweepstakes. The giveaways are centered on America’s favorite grilling holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day. The end-of-year winner will be the recipient of a BBQ Celebrity Bash in their backyard, complete with food, entertainment and an appearance by a celebrity barbecue personality. Holiday giveaways throughout the year will include a Big Green Egg cooker, plus products and grilling accessories from tour partners. It’s almost too good to believe!

Nalani & Sarina Interview

Following their performance at our WLOY Coffeehouse, I had the chance to sit down with Nalani & Sarina, the dynamic, twinning duo who can hold their own in the music game. The extremely talented pair graced our ears with their singing abilities, along with each playing the guitar, piano and ukelele. What Is The WLOY Staff Listening To?

This newly released EP from Irish artist, Hozier, has been on repeat since I discovered it last week. I first heard Hozier on Teen Wolf, judge me, with his work from his first EP, and his second certainly does not disappoint. I cannot stop listening to the hauntingly beautiful tones and intricate lyrics of all four songs off the new EP. Give it a listen and melo out.

Top 20 Tracks 4.20.14

This week we have the highly anticipated “Girl” topping our chart. The xx producer/percussionist released his fourth solo single earlier this week, and it’s thumping bass and reverb vocal makes dancing to this track almost irresistible. Also on our chart is another cut off of Mac DeMarco’s Salad Days, as well as tUnE-yArDs’ “Water Fountain” which received an extremely psychedelic music video this week (check it out here). Honfest: Saleem and the Music Lovers

Saleem and the Music Lovers are a hip hop group from right here in Baltimore. They have a similar sound to The Roots and Common. If you’re into the funky, hip hop style of these artists, then you’re sure to enjoy Saleem and the Music Lovers. They’ve been in formation since 2005 and have been combining jazz, funk and rhythm and blues. They’ll be performing at WLOY’s stage during Honfest this summer on June.14th.
