Kat Dahlia Visits WLOY

Up-and-coming artist Kat Dahlia is stopping by WLOY on Thursday! She will be performing two songs and giving DJs Jordan and Joelle Hernandez of A Double Dose of Entertainment an interview! Kat Dahlia’s new single “Gangsta” sounds like a mix of Rihanna and Nelly Furtado! She has a style all her own, both musically and fashionably. WLOY is very excited for Kat to perform on Thursday and we are looking forward to hearing more work from her in the future.

Local Natives- Hummingbird

LA born and bred Local Natives’ 2010 debut album, Gorilla Manor, was defined by its vocal layering, choral “oh’s” and “ah’s”, and blisfully chaotic melodicism that landed them a spot in the “bands to watch”. Some people attributed the success of Gorilla Manor to a well-executed conglomeration of indie influences like Broken Social Scene, The National, or Grizzly Bear. As a result, the release of their sophomore album, Hummingbird, has been highly anticipated.
Hummingbird has been said to be Local Natives’ “do or die” opportunity to either mature their sound and solidify their spot in the indie world or retire to the proverbial land of misfit indie bands. (more…)

New R&B/ Hip-Hop artist Chanel Nicole is calling in to WLOY for an interview! Chanel Nicole is a singer, songwriter and performer from Brooklyn, NY and has already taken the music industry by storm. Her single “Good Lovin” is reminiscent of Mya, Ciara and Ashanti mixed together into one song that is sure to be heard on radio stations across the country very soon! She has even been featured on hip-hop legend Busta Rhymes’ single “Do It Again.” WLOY is so excited to welcome Chanel Nicole to Baltimore! Soulful, inspiring, talented, relatable, and smooth are all words that may come to one’s mind when listening to Baltimore native hip hop/ R&B artist Von Tae’s album Broken Boundaries of Existence. At just 20 years old, his lyrics can relate to those of all ages who have been in love, through a tough break-up, or just looking to have a good time. Von Tae provides his listeners with a variety of melodies, beats, and sounds that are coupled with a wide range of very relatable lyrics. Each track offers a different sound but all provide an enjoyable experience. This upcoming artist delivers a great mix of rap and vocals that are sure to please anyone looking to hear good music.
