The American Visionary Art Museum, known for its eccentric and out of this world collections, will be hosting an exhibit for the next ten months centered entirely around food. 34 different artists came together to form one exhibit that is interesting, ingenious, and inspires food-revolution. The aim of the exhibit is to raise awareness to humankind’s intimate relationship with food and the effects it has on our society, planet, and future. Through this exhibit, the artists hope to instill a certain sense awareness as well as “food-creativity” in the people. Art and imagination go a long way in helping to provide a dialogue regarding the future of the planet and how to approach our relationship with food from a more loving, healthful, and clean manner.
By visiting this exhibit not only will you be able to enjoy the very careful and imaginative creations of a huge variety of artists, but you also may have your eyes opened to the food-revolution that this exhibit is hoping to shed some light on.

Late Night Concert: Thin Lips and Pompeii Graffiti 11/3/16
Friday, October 28th, 2016 by WLOY Staff
WLOY is hosting a free late night concert this Thursday the 3rd in McGuire with Thin Lips and Pompeii Gaffiti. You can check Thin Lips out here and Pompeii Graffiti here. Both bands will have you jamming out to their indie rock beats.
Thin Lips, called “punk for your sensitive side” by SPIN Magazine blend indie-rock guitar with punk energy to create a unique sound perfect for some head nodding. The female-fronted, Philly native band has toured with some great bands, like Modern Baseball and Cayetana and are now stopping by McGuire.
Pompeii Graffiti, a local band from Annapolis offers up a more mellow sound for your Thursday. Formed during high school, this band has been playing together for years, developing into the artists they are today. Claiming they’re still the same dorky kids from when they started, this quintet blends indie rock with lo-fi. Come out to hear their cool originals, as well all the covers they love to play. Whether your taste is some hard riffs or some relaxing indie, between these two talented bands, there’s enough great tunes for everyone to enjoy!

Jakubi – Rock n’ Roll Hotel, DC 09/29/16
Wednesday, October 19th, 2016 by The Professor
Words & Photos by Jeremy Stephenson
Hailing from the land down under, Jakübi is a five-piece band that is something entirely different from what you have been listening to. Comprised of five great guys who were all best of friends, actually family, before making music. There are the two brothers, Jerome (vocals and talkbox) and Jacob (bass and moog), the cousins, Adam (or Addzy, guitar) and Jesse (drums) and last but not least the mutual friend of everyone, Rob (guitar). Coming from relatively new beginnings, Jakübi released their first recorded song, “Can’t Afford it All” in 2013 and second, “Holiday” within three weeks of each other gaining more than a 100,000 listens on SoundCloud. Ever since those days of jamming for hours in their studio in Melbourne, Jakübi has been gaining a formidable following in both America and Australia. Recently signing to Epic Records in 2015, Jakübi released their first EP, 61 Barkley (the address of where they recorded their first songs) headlined by their single “Nobody Better”. (more…)
