Open Mic Night at 3rd Floor Common Room 1/16

It’s the first event of the semester!! This Thursday from 8-10pm, WLOY will be hosting one of our many popular Open Mic Nights at the third floor common room of the College Center. Open Mic Nights are always a great opportunity for you and/or your friends to show off some talents or even just to blow off some steam. Any kind of performance is encouraged–from original songs, to covers, to improv, to comedy, to storytelling, and everything in between! We welcome everyone and anyone to come to Open Mic Night, regardless of skill level, experience, or background; so come on out, bring your friends, let loose, and have yourself a great time! Please note that this is a different location than our usual spot by Starbucks, so don’t get mixed up! Stop by anytime, at the third floor common room of the College Center, between 8 and 10pm for a good time! See you there.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! To help you celebrate, our amazing DJs and staff have put together incredible Christmas show specials – including Nick Centanni’s annual Moldie Oldie Christmas Eve and Christmas Day specials, plus specials from Crucial Cuts and Radio RockOnTour! Christmas music and special shows start at midnight on Christmas Eve, just in time to start your festivities and while you do your last minute wrapping, and will play all through Christmas Day, to be the soundtrack for all of the day’s gatherings and celebrations.

Christmas Karaoke & Gingerbread Houses at Starbucks 12/5

It’s the last event of the semester, and you won’t want to miss this! This Thursday, December 5th, WLOY and CAB will be hosting Christmas karaoke and gingerbread house making at Starbucks from 8-10pm. The night will entail an open mic with endless Christmas karaoke options and free gingerbread house making kits. Everyone is welcome and anyone may participate in the open mic however they may please–whether that be with a Christmas carol, a song cover of any kind, original music, jokes, storytelling, or quite literally anything at all! So stop by for some free food, Christmas festivities, and quality entertainment by your very own peers. We hope to see you there! This Thursday at Starbucks from 8-10pm.

Mayor’s Annual Christmas Parade 2019

Its that time of year again! And WLOY is ready to go. We’ve pulled the old float down from its hibernation and are cleaning it up for another parade. We’ve got candy canes, we’ve got a float, and we’ve got costumes! We’re prepping Snoopy’s playlist and getting ready to march down Falls Road to 36th Street and all the way to Chestnut.
Along the route we’ll pass some judges who won’t give us a trophy again (but we’re not bitter, really) and we’ll make a lot of kids happy with Snoopy and candy canes. Don’t worry, we’re not in it for the glory, we love it! Go HERE for all the details – see you Sunday December 8!

ATW Sits Down with Jay O’Brien (2005)

On Nov. 15, WLOY’s After the Whistle team headed down to M&T Bank Stadium for an exclusive interview with Jay O’Brien, the VP of Broadcasting and Gameday Operations for the Ravens organization. O’Brien was a part of Loyola’s College class of 2005. He worked at WLOY and The Greyhound during his time at the college.

Black Rhinoceros at the FAC 11/21

The amazingly talented Ahren Bucheister is coming back to campus. Which one of his 13 bands will it be this time, you ask? Well, this week it’s Black Rhinoceros his acoustic duo with Erin Snedecor on cello and Ahren on guitar (with both providing vocals). It’s part chamber music, part country, part rock and roll, and all wonderful. We’re trying something new and hosting the show in the Fitness and Aquatic Center from 8-10pm on Thursday night. Whether you are headed there for a rock wall session or just want to chill, expect the open air of the FAC to be filled with beautiful music on Thursday night! Come do something a little different this week 🙂
