For the past eight years the museums of Baltimore have been participating in Free Fall in celebration of National Art and History Month. Throughout the month, many museums, musical performance arenas and theaters across the city offer various free events, free entry on particular days of the week and awesome exhibitions! Don’t miss out on this chance to become aware of the culture in Baltimore for free! All are welcome, but certain events offer limited space, so keep your eyes out for special events and ticketing!

Sports Saturdays: Red Sox @ Orioles 9/28

Next Saturday the Orioles will host the Boston Red Sox at Orioles Park in Camden Yards. The game takes place at the tail end of Fan Appreciation Week, so fans at the game will have multiple chances to take home exciting prizes and experiences. The 2013 regular baseball season is winding down; if you haven’t gotten to an O’s game yet, here is your chance! Tickets start as low as $18, but don’t forget to bring some cash for a hot dog and a coke!

Hampdenfest September 14, 2013

We’re rolling back into Hampden for the 2013 Hampdenfest! Unfortunately our eating machine Alex Fili has graduated and can’t interrupt her dental studies to join us for a threepeat in the Bread Pudding Eating Contest. We are seeking a worthy successor now…
As always Hampdenfest brings music, dancing, eating, drinking, toilet bowl races, and Hampden Idol. WLOY will be at Roland & 36th Street.
And Loyola shuttles to get students on site. This is a great way to explore a new community for all you first year students! Pickup behind Boulder at 10am, 1pm and 4pm with drop off and pickup at 36th & Keswick by the festival. Last return from Hampden at 7pm. That’s a FREE shuttle 🙂

Sports Saturdays: Free Salsa Lessons at Talara

Every Monday evening, beginning at 9PM, head down to Talara Restaurant in Harbor East for free Salsa Lessons. The class itself will go until 9:30PM, and from then until midnight there will be open dancing. The class is designed for people of all experience levels, so don’t be embarrassed if you don’t think you can dance! There are sure to be tons of people around you from all skill levels, just looking to have a great evening! Talara also features many food and drink specials, with a happy hour that runs from 4-7PM. Plus, the food at Talara is extremely unique and delicious, featuring things like mojitos, fresh salsa, and other South American cuisine. Heading down to Talara for dinner, drinks, and dancing certainly sounds like the perfect date night! Put on your best dancing shoes, and check out Talara this upcoming Monday!

Theater Thursdays: Nick Offerman – American Ham

On the Emmy Nominated show Parks and Recreation, Nick Offerman works along side an ensemble cast of some of the funniest comedians, like Amy Poehler and Rob Lowe, in the game. Yet, Offerman has still managed to stand out and has developed a cult-following from many viewers. For you avid fans, head on down to The Lyric to see this funny man perform his act, live! Tickets are approximately $50 per person, and there are a lot of great seats still available! If you don’t recognize Offerman from Parks and Rec, you’ve also likely seen him in Casa De Mi Padre, 21 Jump Street, and Men Who Stare at Goats! He has also received numerous awards and nominations for his various roles! This show promises to be a good time, so purchase your ticket before it’s too late!

Wacky Wednesday: Baltimore Comic Con

Baltimore’s annual gathering of comic-book lovers will be returning to the Baltimore Convention Center from September 7th to September 8th and this year is expected to be the best one yet! This convention is featuring various, world-renowned Comic Book artists and collectors alike. For fun, the convention will be holding it’s fifth annual costume contest, with some really awesome prizes. Plus, the convention will be featuring the annual Harvey Awards, which recognize greatness in the comic-book field. Guests can also purchase a $40 ticket for a session with Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes, also known as Jay and Silent Bob, featuring a Q&A and a viewing of their latest movie. Two day, general admission tickets are $40.00, and specials and VIP packages are upwards of $200. You still have time, so start constructing your best Spiderman or Thor costume, and head on down to Baltimore Comic Con!
