Summer is just around the corner, and nothing will leave you feeling better than fresh fruits and vegetables, especially if they come from your very own garden! To many people, growing and eating from their own garden sounds like more of a chore than a fun (and delicious) hobby, but with the help of the Evergreen Museum, that can change! Their 5-Session hands-on workshop, the Edible Evergreen Kitchen Garden Course, will take you step-by-step from your garden to your plate! The goal of the course is to teach you about sustainable growing and preparing fresh organic produce. Lessons on planning, planting, maintaining, turning, and canning will make eating fresh a breeze! The session welcomes all who would like to learn more about nonprofit organizations and agencies who strive to save Baltimore’s urban environment by working with citizens to make our city green. Trees & Baltimore will teach you all about the environmental issues that we face while our urban forest declines. All the classes and workshops provided by the Baltimore Tree Trust are free and welcome to all, and each offers an opportunity to give back to Charm City! The Baltimore Contemporary Arts Museum and its Print, Drawing, and Photograph Society are bringing to you a showcase of works from some of the country’s most unique and talented contemporary artists for you to admire, enjoy, an be inspired by! (Maybe you’ll even go home with a print of your own!) The exhibit will include limited editions, multi-part portfolios, single prints, and much more, introducing you to a variety of works by known and emerging artists alike. The fair is an opportunity to speak with publishers, printers, and BMA curators about the artwork, the printing process, and other techniques as well! All proceeds from the fair go towards expanding BMA’s contemporary collections! Hosted by the Maryland Historical Society, The Party & The Pendulum: A Poe Masquerade will be a lively celebration of the life and talent of Edgar Allen Poe, one of Baltimore’s many claims to fame. With an open bar, great food, including the Chef’s special, hors d’oeurves, and exhibits of Macabre artifacts open to party-goers, this night will surely be a memorable one! With exhibits full of ceramic vases, teapots, cups, bowls, and much more, the nonprofit ceramic art center aims to develop and sustain a community that provides programs for those interested in educating, collaborating, and celebrating artwork.
