Willie and Lobo Interview

Willie and Lobo are a fantastic duo of Willie Royal and Wolfgang “Lobo” Fink. They first met in 1983 while working at Mamma Mia’s restaurant in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Willie plays the violin while Lobo plays the flamenco Guitar. They have not produced new music since 2005 but are currently touring North and South America.

Virginia Coalition Interview

Forming in Alexandria, Virginia in the late 90s, Virginia Coalition released their first album in 1998. Their 10th album, Home This Year, was released in 2008 and got rave reviews. They will be performing around the US in early 2011.

TJ Leyden Interview

TJ Leyden, a former neo-nazi, white supremacist activist and recruiter spent 15 years of his life as a self-proclaimed Skinhead. He and his wife, Julie founded StrHATE Talk Consulting in 2000. He speaks all over the country educating and training members of the FBL, military, law enforcement and students.

Stephen Kellogg Interview

Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers formed in Massachusetts in 2003. Stephen released 4 solo albums before meeting Kits and Boots at UMass. Last year the boys accepted an invitation to tour military bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, Turkey, Portugal, Italy, Germany (with Sugarland) and NATO bases in England and the Netherlands.

Lewis Black Interview

Our very own, locally born, Lewis Black is covering all his bases as stand up comedian, author and actor. He performs 200 nights a year all over the world. He has been a guest on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show and performed 2 HBO specials, Black on Broadway and Red, White and Screwed.  He won Best Male Stand-up at the American Comedy Awards in 2001.

Les Nubians Interview

With the release of their third album in 2009, Les Nubians have been entertaining fans for a decade with their Afropean style. In those 10 years they have received a Grammy nomination, two Soul Train Lady nominations and two nominations for the NAACP Image Awards. They have one of the leading French-language albums in the past 20 years.

Brothers Past Interview

Philadelphia natives, Brothers Past, have a hard time fitting into one genre. Their strength is their seamless mixture of electronica and rock that paves the way for future types of music. Their latest album, This Feeling’s Called Goodbye, was nominated for “Album of the Year” at the 2009 Jammy Awards.

Margaret Cho Interview

Margaret Cho, stand up comic since the age of 16, received the Victory Fund Leadership Award in 2008 and the Best Comedy Award at the 2007 Asian Excellence Awards. She has now taken her comedic brilliance to music.  Her album of comedy songs, Cho Dependent, was released this past August.  She worked with great artists like Tegan and Sara, Ben Lee and Fiona Apple.  She also took Cho Dependent on tour this fall combining her stand up with her new music. WLOY has been fortunate to catch Margaret for 2 interviews, the first when she performed at Loyola in 2003 and the second just before her show in Baltimore in 2008.
