Who is the Best of the Best?
Saturday, October 24th, 2015 by WLOY Staff
For the first time since 1970, 5 NFL teams will be undefeated entering week 7. The Bengals, Broncos, Packers, Panthers, and Patriots are the lone remaining teams without a loss and all 5 of them have a legitimate chance of raising the Lombardi Trophy come February.
We know what Andy Dalton and company can do during the regular season, but the real question for the Bengals is, can they get the job done during the post-season? Dalton has made the playoffs in each of his first 4 years in the league however, he is 0-4 in the post-season. This is a different Bengals team. They are incredibly balanced on offense with a thunder and lightning rushing attack with Jeremy Hill and Giovani Bernard, as well as a prolific passing attack featuring A.J Green. With the exception of the Ravens game, Green has been relatively quiet so far this season. It is the emergence of guys like Tyler Eifert and Marvin Jones that have really added another dimension to this offense. Eifert specifically has been extremely effective in the red zone hauling in 6 touchdowns leading all tight ends. This Bengals team certainly has the weapons to keep up with the elite teams in the AFC. (more…)

The All- American Rejects album “Move Along” was an album that gave the group honorable popularity. Their pop album topped the charts leading with their singles “Dirty Little Secret”, “Move Along”, and “It Ends Tonight”. Their album touched on the topics of cheating on your significant other and also how when you are faced with tough situations in your life you have to face them and “Move along”.
The album started off with the lead singer finding out that his girlfriend has a “Dirty Little Secret”. He soon finds out that his girlfriends’ secret is that she is cheating on him but he is so in love with her that he offers to look past her cheating because he wants them to stay together. The album has a nice flow to it, with the lead singer finding out his girlfriend is cheating leading to the singer move on with his life. More interviews to post!
Monday, October 12th, 2015 by The Professor
It’s been an insane last week here at WLOY! We’ve had Dead Flowers, Red Sammy and Jake Star all in the studio for interviews and even some music. We chatted by phone with The Sheepdogs, and (of all people) Herb Alpert! It might take us a moment to get the perfect versions of those up here, but stay tuned, we have more coming! In addition we’ve been working with local 8th graders to create and record their own radio plays! Plus, of course, tons of great music and our live shows with Canopy & Swampcandy. We’re crazy busy but don’t forget to check in and see what’s next – tickets, shows and more! Did we mention we’re going to be hosting an Open Mic Night 10/22 and showing the amazing Rocky Horror Picture Show on the quad 10/29?

Allen Stone Interview
Sunday, October 11th, 2015 by The Professor
Kat & Rae (of the infamous Kat & Rae Midday show) had a nice phone chat with Allen Stone about his upcoming show (11/11 make a wish!) at Baltimore Soundstage a few days ago. Allen survived their lightning round of questions and shared the experience of being an on-demand Uber driver, among the tasty tidbits. Is it the hats, or the hair that intrigues them more? You’ll have to listen in to find out. And ignore the digital whoops and bloops that our phone system made… sorry.

2015-16 Loyola Basketball Season Preview
Saturday, October 10th, 2015 by WLOY Staff
The college basketball season is right around the corner and if there is going to be a year in which Loyola basketball wins the Patriot League, the 2015-16 season is definitely that year. This team has a perfect mixture of veteran leadership and young talent.
The Greyhounds have four seniors on the team and they are all expected to play pivotal roles this year. Loyola gets big man Jarred Jones back after playing in only two games last year due to injury. The men in green also return Franz Rassman who started every game last season, Eric Laster who was the team MVP last year, and Tyler Hubbard who is the only member of the team who was on the 2012 team that won the MAAC championship.

College Radio Day!
Thursday, October 1st, 2015 by WLOY Staff
Wait for it!
This Friday, October 2nd is College Radio Day! Safe to say this is WLOY’s favorite and most coveted holiday. We are all celebrating the 5th year of College Radio Day.
We take this day to recognize the importance of college radio and the positive effect it has had on students throughout the years. It is a day to encourage us to change that dial to a college radio station (WLOY of course) and support them all around the country. College radio maintains and fosters so much creativity, as we don’t have the commercial binds the most popular stations have. We have the ability to be more free and more open to new music and new talent. Not only helping students to achieve but also musicians as well.
As with most of our favorite holidays we typically receive a gift, so in honor of this WLOY will be raffling off a turn-table with a couple choice records to help kick start your collection. Come to our Coffeehouse this Thursday, October 1st, (with Swampcandy) to get a jumpstart and purchase your raffle tickets. Or, stop by the WLOY table at Live @ Boulder on Friday and purchase tickets there!
Yay for College Radio Day!
