To describe the Loyola women’s lacrosse season in Patriot League play in one word, it would be: dominant.
The Hounds have been a perfect 8-0 for the second consecutive year in conference play. After squeaking by Virginia in overtime, the Greyhounds have rallied for eleven consecutive wins.
An experienced group leads the team. Senior Annie Thomas, redshirt senior Taryn VanThof, and junior Maddy Lesher won the Patriot League honors for offensive, midfield, and defensive player of the year respectively. All three of these ladies, plus Hannah Schmitt made the All-Patriot League First Team.
Senior Kara Burke, junior Molly Wolf, and sophomore Bailey Mathis also took home all conference honors as they were named to the Second Team All-Patriot League.
However, all of the hardware goes out the door come Friday at 5:00 p.m at Ridley Athletic Complex when the regular season champs take on the Boston Terriers.
The Terriers are the 4-seed in the tournament and have a record of 8-8 (5-3) on the season.
These two teams already squared off on April 11th at Ridley. In the end, the Greyhounds prevailed and pulled out a 9-6 victory.
Boston will be hungry for revenge when they make their return to Charm City, but the Greyhounds have proved to be the best team in the league all season.
Something will have to give come Friday evening at Ridley Athletic Complex.
