April 5th, 2011 by WLOY Staff
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BALTIMORE, MD (April 5, 2011)-
WLOY, the non-profit, student-run radio station at Loyola University Maryland, will feature a performance by Baltimore-based singer-songwriter Karyn Oliver on Thursday, April 7th. The event begins at 9 p.m. in the Reading Room in the Andrew White Student Center on the University’s North Charles Street campus.
Oliver’s appearance represents a unique opportunity for students, especially aspiring songwriters and musicians, to interact with a local performer who has toured the United States and Europe. Guests are welcome to bring their instruments and songs to perform and discuss the songwriting process.
Oliver’s lyrics are deeply personal, yet her music connects fans of folks, blues, rock, and even country. Oliver is part of the acoustic and Americana music scene in the Baltimore-DC area, has served as president as Baltimore’s Songwriters Association, and is now a member of the association’s board. Oliver has performed at a number of WLOY events.
WLOY is Loyola University Maryland’s campus radio station. The student-run radio station has been operating year-round since March 2003. The station can be heard on 1620AM, and via the internet.
