WLOY loves nothing more than being able to share some of our favorite tracks with you guys. Let’s welcome August with July’s hottest hits as we present some monthly staff picks!

Mikaela Davis“And Southern Star”

Released during summer’s prime, Mikaela Davis delivers the cutest folk-pop tracks for your country playlist. Davis’ promises range, totally nailing the country-pop vibe.

Album Favorites:Cinderella”, “Far From You”, and “Leave It Alone”

Jessy Lanza“Love Hallucination”

Lanza gives the early 2000’s babies just the right tracks for their college summers. “Love Hallucination” is an evolutionary progression of our 2015 Calvin Harris era, really giving that EDM sound we all adore. 10/10!

Album Favorites: “Don’t Leave Me Now”, “Midnight Ontario”, and “Dont Cry On My Pillow”

Night Tapes“Perfect Kindness”

Night Tape’s newest album, “Perfect Kindness” is a melodic fusion of meditation and illusion. The lyrical and rhythmic combination speak to the calmness we feel in being comfortable with ourselves.

Album Favorites: “Selene”, “Inigo”, and “Moonrise”

Sugar Nova“Halogen”

“Halogen” immerses listeners in an electronic pop soundscape, evoking nostalgia, happiness, and sadness. Fans of Florence + The Machine will find the album particularly resonant, while also recognizing its distinctiveness.

Album Favorites: “I Wouldn’t Worry”, “Send Me Higher”, and “Tiny Helicopters”

VALLEY“Lost in Translation”

The pop sound in VALLEY’s “Lost in Translation” is both effortless and rejuvenating. They lull listeners into believing they’ve heard it all before, only to slyly alter the lyrics or chorus. Such an easy, and enjoyable listen. Their sound resembles Big Time Rush if they had continued to make music. 🙂

Album Favorites: “Lost in Translation”, “Big Jet Plane”, and “Natural”
