Kay Young’s new hit explores the sounds of jazz and R&B. “Woe Is Me” is a track on Young’s upcoming album, which will be released on April 14th, 2023. The melodies of the song resemble a neo-soul vibe, definitely evoking a sense of warmth in the listener.
“Woe Is Me” describes the various paths in our search for self-discovery. Young speaks more personally about having dreams and striving for them regardless of your age. She realizes she should stop listening to people’s opinions on where she should be in life and start enjoying her free will. Despite life’s predictable nature, the song’s melodies suggest we should stay calm and go with the flow. Young ends the track with the lyrical phrase “I guess I’ll just enjoy the ride.” “Woe Is Me” bleeds care and reflection, absolutely provoking a deeper and more spiritual perspective on the song itself.
