Babe Rainbow is a psychedelic rock band originating from New South Wales, Australia. Formed in 2014, Babe Rainbow consists of Angus Dowling, percussion and vocals; Elliot (Lulu) O’Reilly, bass, keys, and vocals; and Jack Crowther, guitar and vocals. The group has their attention on the 60s and 70s harmonies, creating a retro surf-pop sound. Babe Rainbow has held a notable presence in the music scene since their 2017 self-entitled album “The Babe Rainbow,” featuring sounds like “Peace Blossom Boogy” and “Fall in Love.” Flash forward to 2023, Babe Rainbow has recently released its newest album “Fresh As A Head of Lettuce.”

“Sunshine” encapsulates the evolutionary progression of Babe Rainbows’ discography. The hippie-styled group taps into its true nature, capturing the ambiance of its groovy sound. Dowling sings “There’s life moving right out of the page, meditating on your sweet rays” in their representation of a simple, yet profound play on words. The retro-inspired band excels at the 60s and 70s vibe they aim for, providing tunes that really do resemble sunshine. Check out their Bandcamp for tons of great tracks.

Cool info: Babe Rainbow reveals some of their traditions when on the road… wherever they happen to be playing, the blonde-haired trio makes sure to only play songs with the town’s name in the title. They even chose Baltimore as their shining example in Its Psychedelic Baby Magazine.

Upcoming Shows: catch them locally September 13th at The Black Cat in DC, or at the Sea Hear Now Festival in Asbury Park, New Jersey, on September 16th. The event will also feature other popular artists such as The Killers, Foo Fighters, Greta Van Fleet, and Weezer. Check out online sales to purchase your tickets 🙂
