The Professor was lucky enough to snag a few minutes on the phone with the amazing Shemekia Copeland, on October 2, just before her shows in DC and Columbia. She’s on tour with her new album America’s Child which explores the fractures in our society, touches on some important history lessons and pulls no punches. It’s her most personal work to date in an outstanding 20 year career. From her first appearance on stage at the legendary Cotton Club at age 9(!) to her incredible guest artists list on the new album, Shemekia shares some great history with the Professor.
