Queens Club – Young Giant
March 30th, 2010 by WLOY Staff
Besides a really cool design on their album cover, Queens Club rocks out with some great tunes. The band assembled in 2008 and is composed of the ex-members of the metal band The Chariot. Their new CD, Young Giant, was recently released on Tooth and Nail Records, which has signed similar popular bands like Anberlin. As I listened to the album, I was struck by the catchy guitar riffs and the energy that this group generates. This CD is packed with a number of great songs that are all worth listening to.
The first song that got my attention was “Issinair.” It immediately hits with a hard guitar riff backed up by a rolling drumbeat that builds the energy to introduce the vocals. I was hooked as soon as the vocals came in. I think this band worth listening to because they have a solid sound that is catchy and memorable.
If I could describe the sound of Queens Club I’d say that they are a combination of Anberlin and The Academy Is. They have the hard guitar riffs and energy of Anberlin with catchy pop vocals similar to The Academy Is. Overall, I was impressed with Queens Club because their sound is instantly addicting. When I heard the first two songs I was eager to hear the rest of the album. I think this band has the potential to be as successful as Anberlin or The Academy Is and I hope that Queens Club gets more attention in the near future.
