WLOY is excited to highlight our Loyolapalooza artist, Fitz and the Tantrums!
Fitz and the Tantrums arrived on the music scene in Los Angeles in 2008, bringing with them a fresh blend of indie pop and neo soul sounds. The band’s core duo, Michael Fitzpatrick (Fitz) and Noelle Scaggs, joined forces with James King, Joseph Karnes, Jeremy Ruzumna, and John Wicks to create their famous ensemble. What definitely set them apart from the beginning was their energetic live performances and their commitment to crafting catchy sound.
The band’s breakthrough came in 2010 with the release of their debut studio album, “Pickin’ Up the Pieces.” This album garnered widespread recognition for its retro-inspired sound and standout tracks like “MoneyGrabber” and “Breakin’ the Chains of Love.” Fitz and the Tantrums quickly gained a reputation for their electrifying live shows, which showcased their authentic musicianship.
Building on the success of their debut, Fitz and the Tantrums continued to rise in prominence with their subsequent releases. Their sophomore album, “More Than Just a Dream,” released in 2013, saw the band exploring new sonic territories while retaining their signature sound. Hits like “Out of My League” and “The Walker” further solidified their place in the indie pop landscape, earning them radio airplay and a growing fan base eager for their infectious brand of music.
Fitz and the Tantrums will be performing on Sunday, April 28th in Reitz Arena.
