Built to defend the Port of Baltimore from enemy attacks after American won its independence, Fort McHenry played a crucial role during the Battle of Baltimore in 1814. When visiting the fort, you’ll get to view the film “The Defense of Fort McHenry” and see the barracks, the uniforms and even partake in the daily flag change. WLOY goes to Louisville Part 3

October 30th, 2010 by WLOY Staff

In the third day of the very long and very informative business trip, it can be said that WLOY has really learned so much. Beginning with a 9:00 AM session, the whole crew: Tim, Billy, Christa, and Amanda (excluding Anthony who had a very long and strenuous night dealing with multiple “Business Clients”) went throughout the various conference rooms of the humongous Galt Hotel (which has its fair share of interesting room names such as Spiegel, Sampson, Coe and the like as if we were transferred into the mystical land of Narnia), learning different aspects of the radio world. WLOY goes to Louisville Part 2

October 29th, 2010 by WLOY Staff

“You look very professional at your little desk right now.” – Timothy Teeling

The first phrase I had typed on this post was: “I look ridiculously professional, sitting at the hotel room desk typing out our day two update…” and then I deleted it, because I couldn’t think of what to say after the word “update.” Since Tim walked in and made said observation, however, I think it’s rather fitting.

Upon taking our seats on the flight to Louisville, PR Queen Amanda took notice of the suits sitting around us and quickly proclaimed the CBI Conference a “business trip.” Anthony also took a liking to the idea, and I took a brief hiatus from hyperventilating over the prospect of being 4,000 feet above the ground to lament the absence of matching WLOY briefcases. On October 21, WLOY held an interactive workshop for musically inclined students. We invited Loyola Alum, Mike McMonagle, to play a few of his songs and discuss the writing process.  Afterward, a few volunteers got up and performed. The songs ranged from originals to covers by the Avett Brothers. Our campus is filled with talented musicians so be sure to catch the next open mic night and maybe show off some of your skills!
