October 1st, 2024 by Liz Kosik

by Fiona Galang ’26

Song of The Week: Liam Benzvi2N4

Released: September 27, 2024

Rate: 7/10

RIYL: Cal in Red, Pool Girl, Rex Orange County

Liam Benzvi is an American singer-songwriter who is known for his shoegaze and dream pop music. He’s opened for artists like Harry Styles, Janelle Monae, and is slowly becoming more and more popular. His first EP, Amnesia, came out in 2019, but didn’t get nearly as much love as the one that just came out a few days ago.

“2N4” is my favorite song from his new album …And His Splash Band. A melodic song with soft instruments that can be listened to when you’re having a more relaxing day or you need something more upbeat, it fits both moods. This song is about personal reflection, connection, and vulnerability which is super relatable.

The Prids are an indierock band, which originated from Oregon. Just like their last albums, The Prids’ new release, I Only Care About You and Me, blends elements of punkrock. During “Bear on a String” is a striking example of how indie rock can take listeners on an unpredictable musical journey. From its catchy pop hooks to the dynamic shifts in rhythm and sound, the song creates a sense of surprise and emotional release. This balance between catchy melodies and unexpected shifts embodies the duality of indie rock, offering both euphoria and introspection.
