Manning Makes History; Breaks TD Record

October 20th, 2014 by WLOY Staff

635493511997930024-USP-NFL-San-Francisco-49ers-at-Denver-Broncos-001This weekend in Denver, Peyton Manning made history by breaking Brett Favre’s all-time NFL career touchdown pass record of 508.

It seems an eternity since Manning threw his first career TD pass to Marvin Harrison back in 1998, but now in 2014 and in the heart of his 17th NFL season, Manning sits at a record 510 career TD passes, a record he will continue to add on to for as long as he plays.

The record-breaking 509th TD pass came with 3:09 remaining in the first half on an 8-yard pass to wide receiver Demaryius Thomas.

When asked about the historical catch, Thomas said, “I thought before the play I might have a chance…I just wanted to make sure I got my feet down. I’m grateful for the chance.”

Manning, a player known for keeping his calm demeanor and his emotions in check, couldn’t help but give a big smile as he saw the official signal for touchdown pass number 509.
