Museum Monday: American Visionary Art Museum
October 25th, 2010 by WLOY Staff
One step inside the American Visionary Art Museum and you’ll understand exactly why it was named “Best Museum” in Baltimore’s Magazine Readers’ Poll. Actually, you don’t even need to step inside. From the one-of-a-kind building to the 55 foot Baltimore landmark outside, the Giant WhirliGig, you can get a sense of the truly unique experience you will find inside.
Just opened this month, the “What Makes Us Smile?” exhibit can now be found at the AVAM. Remaining on display until September 2011, it revels in the history and science behind laughter, featuring costumes, cartoons, facts, quotes, 3D surprises, and much more to ensure smiles of your own.
The intent of the American Visionary Art Museum is to expand and spark the minds of the future. Are you ready to get your creativity flowing? It’s hard not to walk out of the museum feeling inspired… or wanting to go back soon. There’s so much to see only 8 hours a day the museum is open!
