Loyola Basketball Mid-Season Report
February 12th, 2016 by WLOY Staff
With five games remaining in the Patriot League regular season, the Loyola Greyhounds are right in the thick of things. They have a record of 8-16 overall, but they are 7-6 in the extremely competitive Patriot League. Loyola is currently tied for fifth place with Colgate, but there is still a lot of basketball to be played over the next several weeks. Second and ninth place is separated by only three games so, the Greyhounds still have an opportunity to climb up the Patriot League standings.
Loyola has had a roller coaster season in Patriot League play as they opened up the season winning three straight games, then lost four in a row, before winning three straight games and then dropping two out of three.
The Greyhounds are enjoying a terrific bounce back season from forward Jarred Jones. Jones is one of the best players in the Patriot League as he ranks in the top ten in a number of major statistical categories including PPG (14.0), RPG (7.5), and FG PCT (51.5).
Loyola will be back in action on Saturday February 13th at Reitz Arena for a 1:00 pm matinee game against Boston University. This is a huge game for the Greyhounds because the Terriers sit one game ahead of them in the standings. So, make sure you come out on Saturday to make Reitz rowdy and support your fellow Greyhounds!
