March 23rd, 2011 by WLOY Staff

BALTIMORE, MD (March 22, 2011)-
WLOY, Loyola University Maryland’s, non-profit, student-run radio station, will host a Late Night Karaoke fundraiser on Thursday, March 24, to raise funds for the station’s Relay for Life team. The event begins at 9 p.m. in the Reading Room in the Andrew White Student Center on the University’s North Charles Street campus.

Admission is $2 at the door and includes two bidding tickets. Participants can choose to sing or be nominated by their friends. Nominees must sing unless they pay a $10 immunity donation. Bidding tickets can be used to vote for singers to stop singing or to continue. A $10 donation can also be used to hit a termination gong during any singer’s performance.

All proceeds will support WLOY’s 16-member Relay for Life team, which will join more than 100 other teams in the University’s Reitz Arena on Saturday, March 26, in Loyola’s annual Relay for Life fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Teams walk from 7 p.m. on Saturday until 7 a.m. Sunday. Last year, Loyola Relay for Life raised more than $240,000, and has raised more than $1 million in its six years of operation.
