He’s Got To Go!
Monday, September 8th, 2014 by WLOY Staff
There are no more excuses the NFL can provide, no more apologies that can be made, and no more field time that can be pictured. Action needs to be taken against Ray Rice by the Baltimore Ravens and the NFL immediately.
There was already enough controversy over the fact that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell suspended Ravens’ Running Back Ray Rice a total of 2 games for domestic violence charges filed against Rice. The mistake made by Goodell in terms of his decision was magnified by the fact that he has been cracking down on players smoking marijuana, and taking that more seriously than a domestic violence case.
Now there can be no more questions as to whether or not Rice hit his then girlfriend, now wife, Janay Palmer. Thanks to TMZ Sports, the security video from within the elevator where the crime happened has now surfaced, and it is appalling.

Strong Start to Soccer Season
Wednesday, September 3rd, 2014 by WLOY Staff
As classes started up for the Loyola students on Tuesday, September 2, students, alumni and fans alike turned their attention to Ridley Athletic Complex for the start of a new soccer season. The Men’s team kicked off their season at home against Howard University.
The Greyhounds sported a bit of a new look on the sidelines for this game as new Head Coach, Steve Nichols, made his debut with the team.
Nichols watched his team start off the year strong with a goal in the 22nd minute from Senior Connor Thompson, bringing the Hounds to life for the 2014 season.
Of course, Mother Nature wanted to make her presence known and start off the season with a typical Baltimore welcome, namely thunderstorms with sheets of pouring rain.

Changing Of The Guard For Loyola Soccer
Friday, November 15th, 2013 by WLOY Staff
Loyola soccer is officially through one full season as part of the Patriot League, and changes are already in order. Both the men’s soccer coach, Mark Mettrick, and women’s soccer coach, Katherine Remy Vettori, will not have their contracts renewed and will not be back at Loyola next year.
The men finished the 2013 season with a conference record of 2-6-1 and an overall record of 7-8-2. The women were about the same in terms of conference play, going 1-6-2 in conference play, but struggled outside the conference as well, going 2-11-4 overall. (more…)

NFL Division Breakdown
Tuesday, November 12th, 2013 by WLOY Staff
This NFL season is shaping up to be one of those “down-to-the-wire” style seasons. Basically, if you were to ask any expert as to who will win each division they would answer with something to the tune of “who knows!”
With the hope of putting some things into perspective for the second half of the NFL season, I figured I’d give you my division-by-division breakdown. Keep in mind these are all just opinions and speculation. Take none of it to heart! (more…)

Fans rejoice! Greyhounds regular season basketball is officially back for another season! The Greyhounds have their first home game of the season this coming Saturday against a very familiar opponent, Fairfield.
This season marks Loyola’s first season as a part of the Patriot League, but it wouldn’t be a season of Loyola basketball without playing a familiar MAAC rival.
The Hounds hope to have a great start coming home for their first game at Reitz Arena of the 2013-2014 season. The Hounds start their conference schedule in January, but have four home games before the conference schedule starts.
C’mon out and support the Hounds for their regular season home opener against Fairfield! For ticket information go check out the Hounds’ website here.

Where Do You Draw The Line?
Friday, November 8th, 2013 by WLOY Staff
In the past week, the situation regarding Jonathan Martin, Richie Incognito, and the Miami Dolphins organization has gone from bad to…just plain weird.
The report came out earlier this week that Dolphins’ offensive lineman, Richie Incognito, had been harassing teammate Jonathan Martin with racist, overtly offensive, and threatening comments. The voicemail read as follows:
“Hey, wassup, you half (racial slur) piece of (expletive). I saw you on Twitter, you been training 10 weeks. I’ll (expletive) in your (expletive) mouth. I’m gonna slap your (expletive) mouth, I’m gonna slap your real mother across the face (laughter). (Expletive) you, you’re still a rookie. I’ll kill you.”

Sports Saturdays: Loyola Soccer Winding Down
Saturday, November 2nd, 2013 by WLOY Staff
When: Saturday November 9, 7:00PM
With the Fall sports season coming to an end, the Loyola men’s soccer team will be ending their season in the next week.
The Hounds will be ending their 2013 season at home against conference rival Lafayette, with a chance to end the season on a high at Ridley Athletic Complex in front of the home Loyola fans. Even though their conference schedule didn’t turn out exactly as planned this year, ending the season with a win at home sure would feel good.
Come on out and support the Hounds in their last home game of the season at Ridley Athletic Complex next Saturday! For ticket information please visit the team website.
