ASG: What’s The Point of All The Points?
Monday, February 16th, 2015 by WLOY Staff
In last night’s 2015 NBA All-Star Game from Madison Square Garden, the Western Conference All-Stars defeated the Eastern Conference All-Stars in a respectably low-scoring 163-158 contest. This was the highest scoring ASG in NBA history.
Oklahoma City Thunder star Russell Westbrook received the ASG MVP award for his 41-point effort for the West, just one point shy of tying the all-time ASG record set by Wilt Chamberlin of 42 points.
This game featured everything from 3-pointers to dunks to more dunks to a rare appearance on the court from Carmelo Anthony (a tease for Knicks fans everywhere). The game has absolutely no meaning and purpose other than good fun through an offensive showcase. Nobody really cares to see any sort of defense or meaning in a game, right? (more…)

New Release from Jose Gonzalez
Monday, February 16th, 2015 by WLOY Staff
[itunes link=”https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/vestiges-claws/id933546159″ title=”Vestiges and Claws” text=”Jose Gonzalez – Vestiges and Claws”]
Release Date: 2/16/15
Rating: 9/10
This morning Jose Gonzalez released his third full-length studio album, and it definitely lives up to the hype. Compared to his previous work, this might sound a bit beefed up for seasoned listeners (we’re talking multiple instruments here), but this is undoubtedly the same Jose Gonzalez we’ve come to love.

Sports Saturdays: Love the Hounds this Valentine’s Day
Saturday, February 14th, 2015 by WLOY Staff
WHAT: Loyola Men’s Lax vs. Penn State; Loyola Women’s Basketball vs. Boston University
WHEN: Saturday, February 14th, 12:00pm; 2:00pm
WHERE: Ridley Athletic Complex; Reitz Arena
This Valentine’s Day, spend some time with your one true love…the Loyola Greyhounds!
The Hounds will be on display first at noon, when the men’s lacrosse team will take on 17th ranked Penn State, then at 2pm when the women’s basketball team will play against Boston University.
Loyola men’s lacrosse opened their season last week with a tough 13-12 loss at home against no. 9 Virginia. They now have the chance to right the ship against Penn State in the two teams’ 52nd overall meeting. Sending a little love the Hounds’ way for the game surely can’t hurt.
The women’s basketball team was right in the middle of the pack in the Patriot League before going on the four-game losing streak they’re on now. However, the Hounds round out their season with five more conference games, three of which are at home. Almost all of their remaining games are against teams that reside in the the lower half of the Patriot League standings. Be sweet and spread hearts all around for the Hounds at 2pm.
Show your love for the green and grey this Valentine’s Day, and be the Hounds’ valentine!

Thursday, February 12th, 2015 by WLOY Staff
In a dominating effort on both sides of the court, Loyola cruised to a 62-43 win over Patriot League opponent Lafayette on Wednesday night at Reitz Arena.
Tyler Hubbard and Franz Rassman led the scoring for the Hounds, but the real story was the suffocating team defense from the Hounds.
The Greyhounds started the second half strong, going on a 14-0 early in the half, extending their lead to 28. At one point in the game, the Hounds led the Leopards by 30 points. (more…)
