Come see the city from a different view! As one of the oldest parks in Baltimore it has so much history. This friday, September 5th, the park is hosting a free movie: The Sandlot. Bring a blanket and some friends and the rest is provided! Free popcorn and a fun time.

What: Jewish Museum of Maryland
Where: Inner Harbor
Established in 1879, this museum was created to preserve the Jewish American history and culture. The second largest port of immigration to the United States was here in Baltimore, bringing two great waves of Jewish immigrants. This museum is the only museum in America with two historic synagogues preserved for the public. They are situated right in the heart of a historic Jewish neighborhood.

It began as a vision for Will Shanklin 8 years ago. At Artscape 2014 it was officially unveiled. This amazing structure is providing a much needed relief from the usual billboards crowding our streets and is creating visibility for a huge collection of artists in the region FOR FREE. Will Shanklin, the artist and visionary behind the billboard’s development and operation sat down for a chat with me right before the official launch of the billboard at Artscape 2014. He shared his idea for the billboard, it’s future and how it can impact art and Baltimore in a positive way. (more…)

Love Fells Point? Come get a tour at the information center by the Preservation Society! Be sure to take a neighborhood walking tour brochure from the gift shop. The tours depart from here on Friday evening and Saturday morning and focus on topics such as ghosts, the War of 1812, mritime history, or slavery and Frederick Douglass’s tenure in Fells Point.

If you want to learn more about Firefighters visit the Fire Museum of Maryland! This museum is the third largest fire museum in the world, with 40 antique engines, a reconstructed firehouse, and the Great Baltimore Fire and other fire service history exhibits, and steam engine and apparatus demonstrations.
