Visit the Mount Pleasant Ice Arena for a great way to spend time in Baltimore during the winter. This arena gives many options from recreation skating to skating instructions! You really can’t go wrong here. Bring the whole crew out to mimic skating greats, or maybe you are one yourself, in that case… jealous. This arena actually hosts great olympians and World Champions like Dorothy Hamill, and Kimmie Meissner.
Come to Baltimore, enjoy the harbor, see the sites, and then go skating at Mount Pleasant Ice Arena!

Super Bowl 50 Preview

The 50th edition of the world’s most popular sporting event will take place in Santa Clara, California at Levi’s Stadium on February 7th. The game will feature two teams with completely different identities.
The Carolina Panthers had the best record in the NFL this season going 17-1, earning the #1 seed in the NFC. They led the NFL in total points thanks to former Heisman Trophy winner, Cam Newton. Many people counted the Panthers out of playoff contention when Newton’s number one target, Kelvin Benjamin, went down with a knee injury before the season started. However, that injury did not deter the Panthers at all. Newton responded with an MVP caliber season and Carolina’s second appearance in the Super Bowl in team history. (more…)

Get your weekly dose of art and culture by going to Baltimore Museum of Arts new exhibit, Maryland Artists, running from February 7 to May 8! BMA has been collecting more and more of local and Maryland art! Yay for Maryland! This exhibition will be featuring works by Raoul Middleman, John Waters, Gabrielle DeVaux Clements and many others. Along side paintings there will be photographs by Elinor B. Cahn. For an excellent exhibit supporting fellow Marylanders make sure to stop by BMA this winter/spring.
Don’t worry if you can’t see it right away! You have plenty of time!

When in Baltimore, start your meal off by scooping a grilled pita into a hearty bowl of Red Star’s crab dip! Or keep it simple with an appetizing Wisconsin Cheese Plate, orrr there are plenty of other options! Enjoy a Mushroom Pizza with caramelized mushrooms and onions, or grab hold of a scrumptious Bistro Steak Sandwich, made with grilled, coffee marinated beef along side avocados! I think though when in a pub, you should do a classic Fish n’ Chips, you just cannot go wrong with beer-battered Cod and tar tar sauce. You just can’t.

The original “Hello It’s Me”. Yes! A rock legend, Todd Rundgren, is making his way toward us! “Spend an Evening with Todd Rundgren”, on February 2nd @ 8pm at Rams Head in Annapolis he will be performing some of his greatest hits.
Rundgren plays several instruments including the drums, guitar, bass, and keyboard. On top of all that he is a talented song writer and fantastic singer! He is prominent rocker beginning in the late sixties to present day! Rundgren’s songs have a great 70’s vibe accompanied by excellent guitar and thoughtful lyrics. Check out some of his hits such as, ” Can We Still Be Friends?”, “I Saw The Light”, and “Hello It’s Me” (a personal favorite) and get a ticket to see him February 2nd!

Hosted by the Maryland State Police, it is a cool (pardon the pun haha) way to support a great organization and join in community fun! It costs $75 to join in on the fun! So “Take to the Waters” and support!

Explore Baltimore is back and kicking off the New Year with focus on some very cool murals of Baltimore!
As many Baltimoreans know Charm City hosts some truly creative murals throughout the city. School 33 Art Center will be hosting the Beautiful Walls for Baltimore exhibit all throughout the month of January to highlight some of these amazing pieces of art. They are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Baltimore Mural Program. It will be featuring several kinds of works from famous re-created murals to written histories and photographs. This will be an eye-popping, colorful event that will be highlighting the great history of Baltimore and Baltimore’s people!
The gallery will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 11am to 4pm. You will have many an opportunity to visit!

Yes! The Phantom Of The Opera is coming to Baltimore this winter! It is the dramatic and romantic story of a damaged musician and his talented student Christine Daae. The romance that ensues leads to jealousy and destruction! This show has captured and retained many audiences attention since 1986, when Andrew Lloyd Webber created this powerful piece!
It will be playing in the Hippodrome Theatre from January 27th until February 7th. Do not miss out on this Tony Award winning performance! Music by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, directed by Laurence Connor and Choreographed by Gillian Lynne it is guaranteed to be an excellent show.

January Madness?

It’s not even March yet and we are already seeing our fair share of upsets in college basketball. In fact, this is the first time that five No. 1 teams have lost before February since 1949. The latest No. 1 team to go down was Oklahoma on Monday night as they fell to No. 19 Iowa State, 82-77, at the Hilton Coliseum. Maybe there is something going around in the water in Iowa because this is the third No. 1 team to lose in the state this season. Northern Iowa previously defeated North Carolina and Iowa got the best of Michigan State when these teams squared off earlier in the season. (more…)
