WLOY celebrated 10 years of 24-7-365 broadcasting with a huge party on Saturday March 23, 2013 at The Windup Space. An amazing area of local artists came out to support us and perform some great tunes. The capper, at the end of the well-over-time evening was this ditty:

Join Us For Our 10th Birthday at The Windup Space!

We’re turning ten! Our birthday is on March 19th – the day that marks ten years of 24/7 broadcasting – and we’re inviting EVERYONE to come celebrate with us! The birthday party is this Saturday, March 23rd, at the Windup Space on North Ave. Artists include: Wendel Patrick, Sahffi, Maria Dontas, Swampcandy, Matt Hutchison, Karyn Oliver, Sweet Leda, QueenEarth, Caleb Stine and Claire Anthony! The party starts at 8pm, with performances by our Late Night Concert guests. Bring your friends, and we’ll blow out the candles together!

THE BATTLE IS ON!! 8:30-11pm McGuire Hall 3/21/13

Stop, rock, and roll! Because the sparks from guitar amp fuses will be setting fire to McGuire come March 21st! After these weeks of deliberation, WLOY has now chosen those worthy contenders who will enter the epic battleground of sound. First of the challengers selected are Stereostyle, Amarant, and Palace at 4am, all of which are comprised of current Loyola students. Next, WLOY presents the infamous alumni in soulfully slick, Greasy Hands. Come and see the showdown for yourself 8:30pm—and bring gauze, because they might blow your eardrums.

SPECIAL Late Night with Mark Hopkins! 3/14

Spring is in the air… or will be, anyway, by the time our SPECIAL event with Mark Hopkins rolls around in March! Mark your calendars for the 14th, because we’ve got a spring fling planned for all of our listeners that will rival your cruises to Panama… or wherever you kids go these days. Join us in the Reading room from 9-11pm for music, food, and FUNDRAISING! We’ll be partnering with Relay for Life to bring you a classic WLOY event with a fundraising twist — we’re receiving a new shipment of PURPLE W-L-“Poh”-Y t-shirts that we’ll sell for $10, and all proceeds go to Relay! Late Night 2/14 – Be WLOY’s Valentine!

WLOY always treats its Valentines right, and how perfect is it that this year’s 14th falls on a Thursday? Get ready for a WLOY Valentine’s Day Extravaganza! From 9-11PM in the Reading Room, we’ll be providing a whole host of FREE goodies to show our love for our wonderful listeners, starting with free pizza courtesy of Loyola’s favorite Toss Pizzeria and ending with a gourmet sundae bar! Free food not enough? Entertainment will follow in the form of Loyola Musician and Heartthrob Peter Whitaker as well as a poetry reading from the Greyhound Poetry Collective. In true Late Night fashion, a raffle will also take place for both concert tickets and a special date — you must be present to win, and all proceeds will go to Relay for Life! Join us Thursday, February 14th — you don’t want to miss it!

Thursday: Late Night with Fractal Cat and Brooks Long

Make sure to swing by McGuire Hall this Thursday, January 31 at 9 p.m. to catch the ONLY late night event this semester. The event will feature music from Fractal Cat and Brooks Long. Fractal Cat is a six-piece rock ensemble hailing from Baltimore who’s style as been described as “musically uplifting” with “playfully mystical lyrics”. Brooks Long is a singer/ song writer from the Baltimore/DC area who uses a blend of old school rhythm and blues with 21st century rock to create a style all his own.
We will also be selling our new PURPLE (color of royalty) WLOY t-shirts at the event along with conducting a free raffle that will give the winner FREE tickets to the band Toro y Moi.
Oh and did I mention that in addition to being a FREE concert there will also be FREE refreshments? Well if you’re not sold on all this freedom yet I suggest you get out of America because clearly you missed the memo. Be sure not to miss it!
