Monday, October 7th, 2013 by WLOY Staff

ellen, Sandy, Kat & Rae good sizedThe lovely and ever talented Sandy Asirvatham and ellen cherry, producers of the Pink Floyd tribute album Mobtown Moon, were celebrated for their triumph on Saturday, September 28th. Mobtown Moon received a standing ovation in their premiere performance of the Pink Floyd tribute, and it was well deserved.  The night began with individual performances from artists who contributed to the album. We were graced with the musical interludes of June Star, The 5th L, and Naked Blue. In the second act, the musicians performed Dark Side of the Moon in it’s entirety. Featuring over 50 artists in the live show, including a full chorus, strings, brass, and spoken word artists, the live performance brought the house down at Goucher’s Kraushaar Auditorium. (more…)

Climbadonkey Interview

Wednesday, May 22nd, 2013 by The Professor

20120817140452-climbadonkey_smallWhat if you recorded an album, and then never released it? What if 30 years later, someone handed you the master tapes and said, “this is good, you should do something with it.”? Well, Climbadonkey went from on the rise, to broken up back in the 1970s in Baltimore, leaving behind a full album recording that was never released. The guys in the band went on to form a lot of other good bands including the Ravyns and Crack the Sky, to name a few. Now, here they are, with a finished album from the good old days and a plan to reunite and tour behind it. (more…)

Walter Parks Interview & Performance

Thursday, May 16th, 2013 by The Professor

Walter Parks, solo artist, guitarist for the now-late Richie Havens, leader of Swamp Cabbage, and all around nice guy stopped by the station finally. We’ve only been trying to make that happen for 4 years… It seemed that something always came up when we tried to make it work so when we finally got the stars to align, I wasn’t going to let him leave after a few questions. Fortunately Walter (and his lovely wife Margo) stuck around for over an hour playing and talking.

Woody Lissauer stopped by to chat and play some of his songs with DJ Chris Sweeney. Just ignore the bonus echo effect on the discussion… Woody routed everything through his pedal systems and it created an interesting effect on their chat. On the plus side the music sounds great!

Sons of Cream Interview

Monday, April 22nd, 2013 by The Professor

SOC2 Take some famous parents and mix in a life of rock and roll and you might get a strange brew. Our own Tim Tilghman of Radio RockonTour caught up with the lads while they were in Annapolis for a show on March 20, 2013. Kofi (son of Ginger) Baker, Malcom (son of Jack) Bruce, Godfrey (no relation to Pete) Townsend all sat down to give Tim a bit of good-natured grief and talk about their careers and vaguely familiar parents.
