Album of the Week: Yves Tumor“Praise A Lord Who Chews But Which Does Not Consume; (Or Simply, Hot Between World).

Released: March 2023

Rate: 9/10

Yves Tumor’s 5th album, “Praise A Lord”, exceeded my expectations and got a well-deserving rating of 9 out of 10. Yves Tumor is a producer and musician known for their experimental music and is originally from Knoxville, Tennessee. After spending some time in California, they were able to experiment with their sound and develop it into their current sound. Yves Tumor effortlessly intertwines shoegaze and grunge with electronic, also producing their own take on 90’s alt-rock and psychedelic rock.

The first song of the album, “God Is a Circle”, grabs your attention with its “noisy” sound and sets the stage for a magical, yet fiery album. The second track, “Lovely Sewer”, was my favorite on the album. The song showcased Tumor’s unparalleled ambition and adventurous nature. “Heaven Surrounds Us Like a Hood” was also high on my list of favorites. It started with a dramatic guitar riff and featured vocal harmonies and synths. Tumor’s blending of genres is so impressive and effective, and you should definitely give this album a listen- you will not be disappointed!

Looking for a day trip? Yves Tumor will also be performing in Washington DC on May 4th, 2023!
