MGMT is an American rock band who are known for their indie pop, psychedelic rock music. They have released a total of five albums and Loss of Life is their newest one. Some of their most popular songs include “Electric Feel”, “Kids”, “Little Dark Age”, and their collaboration with Kid Cudi- “Pursuit of Happiness”.
Their new album, Loss of Life, is characterized by it’s acoustic guitar-driven sound instead of the synth that is popular in their other songs which makes it very different from the rest. There are themes of death, love, and personal growth throughout the album. Some of the songs like “Mother Nature” and “People In The Streets” kind of remind me of a David Bowie kind of vibe. My favorite track is “Nothing Changes”, it’s introspective and sounds like a fall-type of song. The album feels very experimental. It seems like MGMT might be entering a new era of music. Overall this album is good but not my favorite of theirs.
