Last Dinosaurs, formed in 2007 is an indie rock band originating from Brisbane, Australia. The group includes Sean Caskey (vocals, guitar), Lachlan Caskey (vocals, guitar), Danjuro Koyama (drums), and Michael Sloane (bass). The groups history can be traced back to high school, where Sean and Dan met and formed “The Cairos,” before creating Last Dinosaurs. This past May, the Australian group released their album, KYORYU. The piece includes 13 tracks, with each contributing an intricate sound to the work.

KYORYU opens with “Keys To Your Civic,” followed by “N.P.D.” Similarly, the two tracks bring an interesting and uplifting sound to begin the album with. Both entail a sort of electronic, yet beachy vibe, definitely perfect for summer. My personal favorite “14 Occasions” describes a certain teen and early-20 angst of escaping barriers yet finding peace in the current difficulty of situations. Although a mild song topic, Last Dinosaurs does what they do best, creating a sound that lightens human peculiarity. The group has a specialty for this type of songwriting and can be found in their 9th track, “Ying and Yang” as they describe the “dignified obsolescent mind” (speaks for itself).

KYORYU is the group’s 3rd studio album and their confidence in their sound only continues to grow. Catch some of their upcoming tour dates here! 🙂
