Fana Hues, born on June 15, 1995, is an American R&B artist hailing from Pasadena, California. Coming from a musically inclined family, she faced a tough childhood challenge when scarlet fever, tonsillitis, and strep throat left her unable to sing for five years. Thanks to her family’s support and her relentless practice, she eventually found her voice again. Her big break came in 2021 when she featured on Tyler, the Creator’s Grammy-winning album “Call Me If You Get Lost,” which landed her on The Guardian’s “One to Watch” list in 2022.
Fana’s musical journey took off with her debut single “Notice Me” in 2020, followed by her first album, “Hues.” Her performances, like her standout rendition of “Breakfast” on ColorsxStudios, quickly caught the industry’s eye. She teamed up with Tyler, the Creator on “SWEET / I THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO DANCE” in 2021, solidifying her rising star status. Her second album, “flora + fana,” dropped in 2022, and just recently, she released her third album, “Moth.”
“Moth” by Fana Hues, is a 13-track album with a 36-minute listening time. It’s an understatement to consider “Moth” just an album, but truly a creation. I have never heard of her music until recently, but to learn she was featured on a Tyler, The Creator song, you know she has that it factor. Fana Hues has established her own idea of R&B and neo-soul, drawing listeners in with tracks such as “Matters Of The Heart” and “Take 2.” My personal favorite is “Til Morning Come” as Fana combines a reggae and soul, adding that extra mile to the album.
